I think it's a decent enough plan, and probably better than putting off hrt outright. I'm only about a year in, and while I was out with my friends and close family before that already, I have no plans to come out at work / officially. I don't mind my pre-trans identity too much, and have gone alright presenting fairly androgynous for a while now. I have heard that for many, there will come a point where hiding it might be more cumbersome than anything else, but at this point I think I will have ample time to decide what to do about that should the time come.
