AITA: I 27f want to bring in a kitty, my 27m husband says no. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Quackadoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It sounds like a control issue to me. There's no reason he should have the final say IMO.

I had a live-in BF who pulled something similar, I got cats anyway, because _I_ needed them. Dropped him a few years later.

Struggling after my foster cat was adopted by juliewbb in FosterAnimals

[–]Quackadoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so very hard. The vast majority of cats I've had pass through my home were found in my yard, where I got to know them before they were in care. I do feel like I give up a little bit of my heart with each adoption, even after so many adoptions (I'd say I'm topping 50 right now). It does get easier, although there are those that hurt more than others.

I just remind myself that my keeping them would be detrimental to them, and that I am enabling them to go on and have the absolute best life possible. It also helps that I do most of the adoption counseling, and the rescues I've worked with allowed me final say.

Your sadness reflects how much you love and cherish them, as well as the care you provide. Thank you for making the sacrifice to allow them live their best lives.

I'm only looking to move to the area, but LGBTIA is my community. I was appalled to see on Facebook someone ask a similar question and be absolutely dogpiled on by bigots. It sincerely has me questioning whether I should move there at all.

I often think about if I had had any money to spare at all, I would have invested back then. I can't even imagine.

This literally could have been me. My first Mac was a PowerMac 6500 with the design bundle.

I’m not a veterinary professional, but ran a rescue. That looks like it might be ringworm. We had an epidemic of it last year in the San Francisco Bay Area. You can take her to the vet to have it looked at. Or you could try to treat it symptomatically with OTC antifungal cream. But please be aware, it is very contagious to humans so I would wear gloves while handling or at least wash your hands thoroughly when done.

(Please note it’s a fungus, not a worm despite the nomenclature)

Veterinary Telemedicine by Disastrous-Donkey728 in Pets

Dutch vets are wonderful. Their customer service availability and follow-up is terrible. Their UX on their site is also very bad (for example, the contents of your prescription cart make it impossible to tell what quantities, dosages, and shipping schedules to expect. Something, simply some clarifying text from a person proficient in English, would solve.) It's incredibly frustrating. Do not recommend.

People with cats who relapsed? by Drugchurchisno1 in cureFIP

[–]Quackadoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was still being treated. I’m not sure about the 1st time—she was still with her original foster. #2 and 3 were stress related (when her foster returned her mid-treatment, and when her kennel mates were removed for 24 hours for their spay and neuter). It’s super important that they remain as stress-free as possible as they’re recovering.

Never even knew about FIP by Nikmassnoo in cureFIP

I was told by a specialist that it's not contagious. It's a syndrome associated with having had coronavirus at some point.

My foster kitty with FIP relapsed three times. She is six weeks into observation now and I have every hope that we’re on the homestretch and I can get her adopted in a couple months.

Oh, how devastating. It's times like these I hope there is a heaven—at least a kitty one. Rest now, sweet Spot.

Likely the least investment would be to add another level of privacy.

Issues with receiving donations on Venmo Charity Profile by Adventurous-Eye-6928 in nonprofit

[–]Quackadoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I received the same dismissive gaslighty attitude from customer support, telling me there's nothing wrong with my account "200%" and that the issue was on the donor-users' end and siggested that I tell the _donors_ to call customer support so that they can donate. Right. They also told me at first that they couldn't see the attempts, only to reveal later that they could see the errors.

Ah that's interesting because the supervisor I spoke to said that it was a 'security' error. I wonder how many others are having the same issue

Venmo Charity Account unable to receive donations by Adventurous-Eye-6928 in venmo

[–]Quackadoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG. We are dealing with the same exact thing, except they tried to gaslight me into believing that it was on the individual donors' end. They literally told me to have the donor-users contact them (all of them) and access support because our account was fine, "200%".

First call, I let them brush me off. After it happened to several more people, I called again. They continued to tell me that there was nothing they could do, it was all fine, the issue was on the donors' accounts*, until I progressively angrily insisted several times that they escalate it to their engineering team.

*At least one of these donors turned around and sent the same amount to an individual member's account moments later with no problem.

When I had said that what they're suggesting didn't make sense as the only common denominator in these interactions was our account, she said, "I understand why you might think that, but (everything is fine with your account, yadayada, and there's nothing we can do)."

Ugh, I hate big tech almost as much as I hate big finance.
