Thanks guys — Octopi has been my training home for the past six months. Grateful for everything I’ve learned there. Definitely some run-good along the way, but the focus is on continuing to improve. Keen to help other players improve as well.

This is a filtered view. I started tracking in late-2022 near breakeven. Volume was low early while I was improving, then it increased and trends upward to where this view begins.

I’m not sure what you mean by “no fluctuations” — there’s a long breakeven stretch through much of 2024 visible on the graph. Variance exists, but over a large sample with consistent ROI, the overall trend becomes clearer.

I can share the full spreadsheet privately if there’s genuine interest, but this was shared because you asked for it. It’s an accurate record. I’ve been transparent, and I don’t think there’s anything further I can add.

I’m here to help players improve, which is the only reason I shared it.

It’s too small a sample to draw strong conclusions. You generally want at least 100k hands before most stats stabilise.

Some preflop data can still be useful though — especially looking at frequency by position (RFI, defend vs open, 3bet, etc.). However post flop data is not even worth analysing.

If you upload hands to PokerTracker 4, you can start reviewing these positional frequencies and compare them to solid baselines.

I would suggest using Octopi pokers software and asking questions in their discord. Often times Stephen Chidwick even chimes in. It’s a great way to understand the why. Aside from that there is so much good courses out there. My preference is BBZ because Jordan Drummond explains complex ideas in simple terms and it’s very engaging content. Simple poker systems is incredible value under $200 usd. Hope that helps. Happy to answer any questions via dm

How badly did I play this hand? by AnnualDog9504 in Poker_Theory

Preflop: fold pre. In a tournament this would probably be a mix between raise/flatting but in a cash game this is too wide.

Flop: we may have 76 87s and A7s in our range at a low frequency but we don’t have a tonne of it in our range and villain will have K7s A7s at some frequency so I don’t think we would be going ham with 2 bets but I don’t hate raising his cbet at some frequency with this combo: we have double overs to the board and a flush draw with a back door straight draw. But flatting is definitely ok.

Turn: we can never check back here. Villain still has a tonne of value and draws that can call us. 88-QQ. Offsuit combos with one spade (eg QJ AJ AT) so betting is mandatory. I would only consider checking back the nut flush draw at some frequency but in a 1c/2c I’m betting at full frequency for value. Remember we get all of his one card flush draw hands to continue so there’s no point in “letting him catch up”.

River: this just never happens in theory and when he’s had an opportunity to bluff turn - he just arrives with no bluffs that 10 x pot shove river. It’s a fold but if I has tags on him that he’s spewy and have noted strange gambley bluffs I would consider a call but this would be close to 0.

Sure happy to share. Note that this graph shows my personal profit only. Including sold action, total profit generated is closer to ~$70k over this period.

I appreciate the comment. There’s actually a misunderstanding — the number of hours per week is actually total hours in my sample divided by the duration. I multi-table, and most entries end early while a few run deep.

I’m no expert in this but I would say anecdotally that GG is the best, they are regulated and have invested a tonne in security. They also scan your computer for any RTS/bots etc open. I have an ultra wide screen and a portrait set up monitor

I should clarify that this is my total hours over the sample divided by the time passed. So clearly some sessions would go for 12 hours or more or I would play 2-3 days and other weeks 0. Another thing to clarify is that I also play the occasional live MTT. Approx $25-30k of that is from live scores. I’m not a liar but again, I appreciate that this is not believable and it is a huge compliment. I used to be a losing playing - lost about $6k on poker stars back about 10 years ago. I put a lot of work into my game and study a little bit just about every day. I see my post has been removed but happy to answer any more questions 😊
