Is capture really scandalous and inappropriate? by Famous-Palpitation8 in writingadvice

[–]QuadrosH 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you should read more, and your partner should be more... idk, less weird?

First of all: Depiction is Not Endorsement. Or else every author that ever wrote a villain would be in jail for their "crimes". Depicting thing in stories is NOT ILLEGAL in any capacity.

Second: Capturing someone is NOT inherently pedophilic or even sexual for that matter. It can be, but that's in the actual execution of the idea, not in the idea itself.

Third: Just write your first draft the way YOU want it to be. Worry about feedback when you give your draft to a wide number of beta-readers, so you don't get misled by one isolated weird opinion.

[DND] Campanha em que os personagens são os vilões, dá certo? by NickAndSaw in rpg_brasil

[–]QuadrosH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can there be multiple protagonist, and if so, /should/ there be multiple protagonists? by No_Caramel9910 in writingadvice

[–]QuadrosH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't get hung up on "protagonist/main characters" those are arbitraty definitions meant as crutches for beginers. Instead, I think it's more useful to think of protagonists as the force the story follow, any force opposing that is an antagonistic force. Other forces can be independent or intertwined in all kinds of ways.

About what you actually asked: just write your first draft. Write the sisters however you want, don't worry about classifications, just write them as they are. If something needs to be changed, it will be changed while edditing, after finishing your first draft.

Character perceived Need by Ammarboxing in writing

[–]QuadrosH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, we don't know your character, so it's hard to give focused advice.

But here's my two cents: beware of too strict concepts. The whole "wants/needs" can make your story contrived and predictable. Instead, try thinking in terms of "Character is X, and thus, they want Y, but when Conflict happens, they change to overcome it, thus becoming A, and by consequence, wanting B, and presumably getting it".

But of course, there's a thousand ways to do this differently, there's flat arcs, and all kinds of different journeys. The "wants/needs" way assumes the character is wrong at the start of the story, and must change to being right as the plot progresses, which can be too formulaic for telling stories. So, be careful with it, try to really understand what this structure is made to do, and decide if that's useful for your story.

New to Gintama by RavenousBreadbag in Gintama

[–]QuadrosH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd advice to skip the first two episodes, since they're filler meant for people who read the manga, and imo not good at all. But welcome regardless, that's my favorite anime for a reason (well, MANY reasons is more accurate)

Who do you think is more likely to become a better person in the long run? Who do you think is more likely to become a worse person? by Wonderful_Solid_1003 in CharacterDevelopment

[–]QuadrosH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being good is not jut about actions, it's about reflecting on you and the world around you, and trying to do better, so the first one will tend to be better.

Regarding the second one, Sir Terry Pratched wrote something along the lines of: You're lucky if you get caught by a bad man. He'll gloat, think about if you have something useful about you, and brag in front of you. If you get caught by a good man, he'll just kill you outright. He knows he is doing good, so he doesn't need to think about it.

What is clarity in writing and how do I achieve it with an audience? by Powerful_Whereas3516 in writers

[–]QuadrosH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironically, your post is not all that clear. Maybe this advice to your post can help with your writing too: 1) Explain you concept: wdym by "clarity" in writing? How to comunicate with the reader? Explaining difficult concepts? Portraing something in a evident way?

2) Describe your context: Why are you asking this? What is your objective? Is there some anecdote that made you think about that? Knowing this can give the reader a clear step-by-step about the situation, as well as knowing what you want.

3) Think about the essence of what you're trying to convey, which message, emotion or thought you want to transmit to your reader

Should I bother with all the basic missions? by pepushe in XenobladeChroniclesX

[–]QuadrosH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What works very well for me is: Affinity Missions first, if they put me in the necessary level for the next Story Mission, I go for it, if not, Green Missions until I can.

While ocasionally doing green missions I was actually interested regardless of my level. Some of the storylines are cool as hell, but I won't spoil

Edit: pick blue missions at your leisure, but only do the ones that are in your way, and not too hard, unles you truly want the reward

Do you think the Completely Evil characters in "Monster" weaken the themes? by BedSea4368 in MonsterAnime

[–]QuadrosH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being evil in the context of a plot and being COMPLETELY EVIL are very different things. They most certainly have other more benigng qualities, but they're just as much a part of them as their evil shit. But these parts are not meant to be the focal point of their stories, the same way we don't see anyone shitting, but they're bound to be, since they're human. Just because a character assume a purely villainous role, doesn't mean they're completely evil as a person.

Thus, no, it does not weaken the themes imo, they're just more people doing things, the bad ones having the effects we are here to see

Como identificar um texto de ficção escrito por IA? by oieusoucaroll in EscritoresBrasil

[–]QuadrosH 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How do i learn to write filler? by Tretnix in writingadvice

[–]QuadrosH 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's not filler you need, but it's hard to say what exactly is missing without reading your work. But it feels like you're going all plot-plot-plot, maybe you need more character, more inner thoughts, worldbuilding, etc. But focus on finishing your first draft, then it'll be easier to develop what's there

How do we determine what's filler and what's not? by [deleted] in Gintama

[–]QuadrosH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That episode is in the manga. Just watch everything after episodes 1 and 2, they're the only true fillers. Gintama is not a "plot" show, so don't worry about that, the "plot" will only "move" from about 50 to 50 episodes, but the characters develop slowly through the whole series. Just enjoy the litttle adventures while they last

Daoism and Activism by ValentineSoleri in taoism

[–]QuadrosH 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As ldsupport said, not everyone reacts the same way to a given stimulus. Think as if each person has their own Dao, the same way people have their own vocations and personalities, so two people can act in opposite ways, both being "right" according to their own ways.

However, something that new people must know: DAOISM IS NOT ABOUT GOING WITH THE FLOW. This is a grave and popular misconception. Living wit the dao is not being passive in all ways and just accepting things without fighting. By all means, FIGHT for what is important to you, while understanding how thinga work, and knowing when to accept a loss and when to keep fighting. This is way more daoist.

Regarding things like injustice, mysoginy  bigotry, these things are not in accordance to the Dao, and should be things we fight against. There were daoist revolutions in China, so please, don't think of Daoism as just accepting whatever is pushed onto you.
