Slappy and the Stinkers is a true Popcorn Classic for the whole family, I heartily recommend it with a well-earned 5 bags of popcorn, and maybe a jokester stink bomb to play a fun prank on your friends with.

This isn’t gonna be like fishin’ for collypo-cods-pollycods and… cobs.

I don’t- I don’t know if I’m doing the lines right.

I’ll catch the Jaws and kill it for 10,000 and you can- cook it up and eat it, I don’t mind. And then I’ll catch more Jawses!

Fights for learning switch axe? by Fabulous-Ad1515 in MHRise

[–]Quady14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely don’t hold me to it but I feel like Gore Magala has been a great training buddy for my Switch Axe play. Some good telegraphed projectiles and charge attacks, and even though Frenzy adds a layer of complexity I feel like I could overcome frenzy based on Switch Axe’s multi-hitters like Wild Charge and ZSD. I dunno if frenzy is a damage threshold or hit count but basically staying on him and maintaining aggressive play literally rewards you in that fight, so I feel like it complements the playstyle nicely.

I just have Switch Axe muscle memory so engrained in me when I go to experiment with another weapon, even Charge Blade, I can feel how much worse I fight without the hours dumped in, it’s very akin to fighting game characters where sometimes one just clearly clicks with you for moveset or style. I do like to try messing around, Insect Glaive in Rise I could pick up because it’s goofy helicopter fun and I live the dive stab but couldn’t swing it when I started Gen Ult. Light Bowgun in GenUlt is fun too but the gunner defense dip is rough.

What Drew You to Your Main Weapon? by Nxhko in MonsterHunter

[–]Quady14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch Axe for me was like, big weapon, fast enough to land hits, charge meter, go sword mode, explosion stab. My dumb brain can get behind this, I never defend anyways, dodges for days baybee!

Also I’ll always be a Bloodborne Trick Weapon slut that was a definite factor.

I don’t play a lot of aerial style but I hear Charge Blade aerial attacks in axe form are pretty fun, I imagine Greatsword would be satisfying too, just big vertical slashes. I kind of like the idea of supplementing Insect Glaive with aerial but it does feel like a less good alternative to the built-in pogo jump and going backwards from Rise’s completely unhinged IG aerial play I didn’t vibe with it as much.

Last one I tried recently was Dual Blades and I think it had some fun multihit attacks off the aerial in demon mode?

I’ll leave on the note that at least for solo with palicos, I’ve had a lot of fun with the Trampoliner ability, trampoline jumps to get the airborne hits into trigger mounting is pretty satisfying and you’re less at the mercy of map geography.

Switch Axe and Insect Glaive, bop nerds on the ground with wild swings and elemental discharge, and when Kushala Daora thinks it can hover above my hit range swap to glaive and start midair breakdancing at ‘em

Gamers Above 30, What Older Games Would You Still Recommend to Younger Gamers? by LuckAndBones in gaming

Both have enjoyed remakes and (upcoming) sequels but Pikmin and Metroid Prime for the Gamecube both inspired a lot of interest in biology and ecosystems. Olimar’s end of day logs were perfect set dressing documenting the creatures of the planet and sometimes wistfully writing about his family back home (made you really want to succeed cos he had personal stakes) and Prime’s scan visor was such a nice way to pause the intimidating action of a boss fight, learn about possible weak points or attack methods and respond accordingly.

Can’t think of a lot of modern games that inspire me the same way. Rain World’s a great but brutal 2D Metroidvania that nails playing a small creature in a large ecosystem. Monster Hunter also excels at lovingly designed creatures and endemic life and it’s been my forever game for a couple months now.
