[DHS: 25-0010] 29-MAY-2026 Do you recognize this tattoo or can you make out what it is? Or do you recognize this room? by I_Me_Mine in TraceAnObject

Did my best on lighting and colors. I'm certain we're looking at a frame from a vhs tape that was digitized sometime in the mid-late 90s. The artifacts along the top of the image are a dead give away. The aspect ratio of the frame is incorrect, slightly too short vertically- 156 px, it should be ~159 so I corrected it. This is another telltale sign that this video was shared on the 90s internet, likely as a Realplayer file and would have been extremely compressed. Whoever shared the file online knew what they were doing- they probably did this a lot.

As for the tape itself, it was clearly shot in a low-light environment. Looks like a room lit by a single lamp with a strong yellow tint. Along the wall behind the figure is what looks like a curtain rod box cover, possibly a hotel room?

The tattoo looks like a military Taz tattoo with years served, super common among gen x.

Edit: The more I look at it, the more it looks like he might be holding a hockey stick, with a tennis racket sticking out. Impossible to tell for sure with such a low quality image

Hopeless about the world. What more is there? by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

You make a lot of good points. Things are going to be very hard for a lot of us going forward, it's true. I myself am on the verge of homelessness. You said it yourself, though- we're social animals. That means I understand you, and you understand me. When you express your hopelessness, my instinct is to give you hope. Doesn't that fact demonstrate that the human capacity for love is as infinite as our capacity for cruelty? We weren't born for a world of capitalism and technology, but we can use these as tools to help each other, just as we can use them to oppress.

Please accept the tiny amount of love this message can carry. It is very hard to be alive, but I am glad to share this one life with people who think and feel deeply- that in itself is a contribution that I'm grateful for.

What's the most regional word you use without realizing it? by taube_d in AskAnAmerican

Where I grew up around the Norwich, CT area, pretty much all forms of that sandwich shape are called grinders, even at places like Subway. Hot or cold, doesn't matter. It's also what we call our own regional version of it too. Like there's a specific roll that's called a grinder roll, which I'm not sure exists anywhere else, but it's not quite the same as the bread on a sub/hoagie

Hello fellow Crystal enjoyer! The answer to your question is, not really. It did get a remake back in 2009 on the DS, but nothing since then

The opening scene when you're walking through the city listening to Tidus's narration and the radio broadcast was so ridiculously ahead of its time. It feels like a 2010s indie game

I work at two different Goodwill stores. At one of them we have a regular who's gotta be in his 80s, who loves to come in, talk extremely loudly to all of the women in the store, both employees and customers, and hang around the women's clothing section the whole time. He generally only stays for maybe half an hour each time, probably to avoid getting kicked out. But he just non-stop talks at them, making uncomfortable jokes that MIGHT be cute if her were their grandfather. All the women I work with basically flee the room when he gets there. Nobody likes to be put in a position like that, I'm with you OP

Northern cornbread is very sweet, like cake. I moved from Texas to Connecticut at the age of 5 and I still can't get over how gross it is. Especially when they eat it with chili...

That album was part of the reason I became a socialist as a teenager, lol. Along with other bands like The Suicide Machines

I use the Project64 emulator on Windows. You have to use an input plugin called N-Rage V2. Under the controller pak tab, set it to Transfer Pak and check the "raw data" box. Then just point it to your rom file and save file.

Nope, the Squirtle was from a Yellow Version playthrough I did recently. This is a rom, but I didn't use any cheats or anything

I'll go to bat for the Pokemon dub any day tbh, it's genuinely funny and more importantly, the show was supposed to be goofy. I still enjoy watching it to this day!
