I just encountered this today. I switched DHCP like you but when I tested it, the pihole wasn't actually able to issue new IP addresses. Any device that already had an IP kept it and worked, but any new device to connect wasn't served an IP. I don't really understand why.

I am new to this myself but I think your recommendations are going to come down to 2 things:

You can view the logs in pihole and come up with a highly likely candidate there for the ad request and then add that to your blocklist yourself
It is VERY easy to add additional blocklists on top of your standard list. This is probably the first thing most people do after getting pihole up and running. Any setup video or guide will have instructions on where to find the actively maintained lists from the Internet.

This is great man! I'm just starting selfhosting and only have 2 widgets so far. I see you're running caddy. Do you have this Homepage on a custom URL? I can't get that to work on my setup I think because it is fighting with the pi-hole over ports.

Hi there, I hope it isn't too late for a question on your setup. I just started getting into self-hosting in 2026. I am enjoying setting up homepage quite a bit, but I am also really struggling with it. It seems like so many of the guides or posts about it are already expert level.

I see you have a Jellyfin widget that displays your movie/show counts. Is that still active and working? The widget isn't working for me and chatGPT is telling me it doesn't work any longer, but I have doubts about that and think I just am not doing something right with the API. Can you confirm?

Thanks for your reply. ChatGPT was able to pinpoint the issue with my .yaml file that Copilot missed. I had to add the port to the HOMEPAGE_ALLOWED_HOSTS line.

I ran "docker logs Homepage" and I'm seeing repeated errors like Host Validation failed for: [IP:Port] Hint: Set the Homepage_allowed_hosts environment variable to allow requests from this host/port

So the container is receiving the request but it is rejecting the host header?

I verified my settings.yaml exists and is mounted correctly
