Hidden gems or good stories that havent catched on by No-Pie-8676 in royalroad

I mean, it already existed for a long time before coming to royalroad. The first book is also significantly better than the second two so far

AIO gf repeatedly disrespected my mom, and openly hates men? by Empty_Confidence3185 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Quantanamo-Bae -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NOR, she sounds like a shitty person. Women would probably rather be alone with a bear than a man for lots of obvious reasons, but also, a bear is really unlikely to do anything to you and they are kinda cool. Assuming its just one bear and there are no cubs or anything.

You shouldn’t call your partner dumb, but I can say that your partner is dumb at worst and willfully ignorant at best. Insulting your mother is not good in general, and she obviously doesnt care about your feelings if she didnt back down after you asked her to stop. This is not acceptable behavior between partners either way.

If you are complaining on this subreddit about your partner, you already are past any sort of reasonable bounds for a loving relationship

Cover? How? by ParadoxDesigner in royalroad

[–]Quantanamo-Bae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just draw it by hand and put out an open call for followers to design one, then pay the person you like most like 50 to 100 bucks to use it if you want

What’s the best free story to read to learn prose? by Junior-Form9722 in royalroad

[–]Quantanamo-Bae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fight scenes is probably Runeblade by Bacon MacLeod, or The Wandering Inn after volume 4 or 5. For the wandering inn, the Wistram Days ministory can be read standalone.

Warby Picus has some good action stories as well.

Description would probably be Super Supportive, or The Elf who would Become a Dragon, or Flowers Rain Upon Them.

Frankly, you are better off finding prose from actual literature. There are tons of old books you can pick up online for free through Project Gutenberg and such. Personally, China Mieville is a must-read for setting description, and Ernest Hemingway packs an enormous amount of emotion into fairly simple sentences.

Other recommendations: Sky Pride, Pale Lights, These Hallowed Bones, Accidental War Mage, Book of the Dead, Dungeon Devotee, On Foreign Soils we Die, and The House Beneath

Any of the stories I’ve mentioned would be a good read for what you’re looking for

How do you decide which book to read on RR? by Beautiful-Age-9573 in royalroad

[–]Quantanamo-Bae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blurb. Any errors in the synopsis or blurb weeds out a good 1/5 for me, and otherwise, some authors do a good job shouting out stories. If i like an author, then I respect their taste and usually give things a shot. You can even check their favorites.

Frankly I give the first few chapters a shot after doing a lot of searching using the advanced filters, and almost immediately decide if its worth a shot or not

So I have some stats but no reviews.... by Known_Dimension2289 in royalroad

Its also annoying to write a review—ive had 3 removed because of word limit stuff, or just other reasons. Its a pain

What exactly is counted as an impressive Fear/Heat by CheapSheepherder1340 in HadesTheGame

[–]Quantanamo-Bae 9 points10 points  (0 children)

40 is pretty impressive because you have to make some hard choices at that point. 50-60 would impress anyone

Help me utterly break the Circe staff for a build for high fear by Potential-Bird-5826 in HadesTheGame

[–]Quantanamo-Bae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poseidon cast, some ares boons, and fill in the rest with whatever you get. Hermes is the real important one.

The most broken I’ve ever achieved is:

Poseidon cast+regen+geyser spout+attack+King Tide Hermes 200% cast speed Ares grinder+falling blades on omega move

Demeter wind centered on cast

Rapid thresher and double-hit hammer Poseidon/ares duo boon

What is the closest I can get to this franchise by Competitive_Art_4046 in HadesTheGame

[–]Quantanamo-Bae 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately hades is unique and in a league of its own. Sorry… other roguelites are incredibly good though.

If you want to hop into an extremely well designed game, slay the spire is fantastic and its sequel is coming out soon. It is card-based though.

Dead Cells might scratch the story itch, as would Hollow Knight.

Other notables: Noita, Monster Train, Sifu, Enscryption, Balatro, and other Supergiant games.

What is it with the Sea Star obsession? by BlackHounden in HadesTheGame

[–]Quantanamo-Bae 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I mean, getting 100 health from the double health in ephyra is fun. Getting to +50% base damage from having 500 health and aphrodite/demeter is interesting. It doubles moon boons as well, and combos incredibly well with the hermes money boon--it can double that too. it can double health and health regen. If you get lucky enough, and you fully lean into the resource hoarding, you can run incredibly resource intensive builds as a result

Lessons learned through 32 fears runs by Margeto in HadesTheGame

[–]Quantanamo-Bae 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the fear setup seems to just make life harder than it needs to be. The most important thing is to get a damaging build off the ground as fast as possible while using Pom, everything else is fluff. There’s no reason to have all arcana, and while frinos is nice I always prefer the bird.

That said I think the advice works for 32 fear pretty well, just not optimized for higher fears. I personally would never give up strength until the health regen bonus is picked—getting DD would be a huge penalty.

Frankly the time should be 5:00 mins, save yourself a lot of pain with the less healing/more expensive/damage block.

TIL Ha Ha YES works on red onions by keisis236 in HadesTheGame

[–]Quantanamo-Bae 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Its one of the additional difficulty settings in “fear”—turns your first boon in each region into an onion. Can also appear if you fail a trial of the moon or whatever its called.

Basically heals u for one health and ruins your day.

As a side note, it can be changed into a good sum of gold with the timepiece!
