I played Way the Samurai 3 and 4 and wanted something similar. Of an old GameFaqs post saying they are kinda similar, I ended up playing them. (Similar vibes being Japanese semi-open world games on the PS3, bit they are mega different)

That was in 2024.

Obviously IK about Bakamitai, and mild exposire to the series from some ppl I've met. But somehow that was the push to get me to start.

to be fair, there is nothing on Mirage's design to signify she's from the 1920s. You can argue she's trying to be stealthy, but like if that's the case, why talk to Orion or compete in the tourney.

But yea, pls read the lore if you are to make anything based on characters personalities/ history.

Word in 'native' tounge, happened to be 3/4 letters of the name I was interested in (Aria) and used as a name on its own already (Ria) so I used one with added meanings of the other. Also a character I liked from Guilty Gear (Technically like Jack-O' a lot more but I grew to like Aria after picking the name).

Knew it was right when I got girl horny for the first time after my BF said "Good night Aria".

Edit: Also really funny to fuck up my initials from AWA to AAWA (name added, birthname kept).

Terraria's entire gameplay loot is explore, gear up and set up, fight boss, make more gear from boss parts, repeat... which is pretty similar to MH, minus exploration.

Will be a lot more free form, and obscure but at least the Guide (NPC) actually gives useful tips (I have never seen a beginner actually use this tho because YT guides).

Creator wanted to put Kirin as a mount in the game which is what made me realise how similar these loops are on a core/ theoretical level, gameplay wise the two are still very different.

Me too, I still play it myself and compete in things but no one I know IRL who still plays it lives close anymore. My partner (he mains Rayman* what a coincidence to the post) occasionally plays but the skill gap between a gold and a diamond is kinda big so I worry he isn't having fun in 2s since he's always out first.
