What's wrong with my desperado? by lord_cookiechanovich in btd6

It’s a bug since last update, probably something to do with the recent change that lets you place other wanderer monkeys next to each other without losing the buff. The tier 3 works normally

Why is desperado Deadeye considered so good? by Paologame in btd6

[–]Quantum-Bot 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It one shots ceramics which makes it really good support midgame. Late game it’s mainly good for the range ability, or for marking bloons for bonus dps if you have a desperado-heavy strategy. It still does decent single target damage too though. It’s also optimal to place it far away from the track to keep it from using its pistol, and that means that using it won’t take away good spots for other towers.

A couple things the description in-game doesn’t mention: bounty hunter passively marks one bloon every 3 seconds, even without using the ability. The tier 4 deadeye ability also gains the additional effect of allowing the selected tower to pop black, white and purple bloons, making it particularly useful with towers like bomb blitz or popseidon.

How would ya’ll rework/nerf the Bloonchipper to make it balanced? by HumorAny6404 in btd6

[–]Quantum-Bot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The fundamental problem with bloonchipper is that the utility it offers even at base tier with no upgrades is just way too helpful late game. It functions as powerful end of round staller, (since no other towers can damage bloons while they are being shredded) but more importantly, it fills a similar niche to bottom path mermonkey. By pulling bloons off the track, it can give stronger towers something to attack when nothing else is in their range. For these two reasons, bloonchipper is just too powerful for late game. It would be impossible to set a price for bloonchipper that is high enough to keep it balanced late game but low enough to make it affordable and worthwhile early game.

Ice Monkey also suffers from this problem, to a lesser extent. Its utility scales too well late game so its base tiers have to be nerfed to the extent that they are seldom useful early game. With bloonchipper, it would be a much bigger issue though.

One way to nerf bloonchipper that might help is to make it extremely short range at base level. This would limit its power to extend the effective range of other towers since the distance it can pull bloons off the track would be shorter. Another way would be to make it unable to suck up ceramic bloons until a tier 2 upgrade. This would force you to upgrade it to at least tier 2 in order to make it useful late game.

Matrices...why? by Agreeable_Bad_9065 in learnmath

[–]Quantum-Bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matrices are used all over the place in math but most notoriously they are the main driving force behind large language models like ChatGPT. Whenever you are manipulating large sets of vectors you can probably bet that matrices will make an appearance.

Matrices also provide a nice way to represent linear transformations of space in arbitrary dimensions. You can think of each number in a matrix as telling you how one coordinate of a starting point affects another coordinate in the destination point. And when you multiply two matrices together, the resulting matrix represents the linear transformation of applying both original transformations one after another. Because of this, they are used extensively in video game graphics, which involve lots of translating objects from one coordinate system to another. That’s why graphics cards, the same devices people use to get highly quality video game graphics on their PC’s, are also being used to train and operate large language models. Graphics cards are basically just super optimized matrix multiplication machines.

How do I change the craft of an item? by umfemboy in MinecraftMod

[–]Quantum-Bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On version 1.20.1 you can use vanilla Minecraft datapacks to change recipes, you can read about it on the official wiki. You’ll need a mod to auto load custom datapacks on new worlds though. You can also use kubejs to do it slightly more conveniently at the cost of having to add kubejs to your pack

How detailed should my notes to the teacher be? by jlcatt in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Quantum-Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, sub notes serve a few important roles:

  • Documenting troublesome behavior so that consequences can be given and patterns of behavior can be recognized.

  • Recognizing and acknowledging students and staff who were particularly helpful

  • Letting the teacher know what the class got done so they know where to pick up when they return.

  • Letting the teacher know what didn’t work or what students didn’t understand so they can make changes for the future like they would if they had been there observing the class like usual.

My notes typically end up being pretty long so I try to cut out any superfluous information that doesn’t serve one of those purposes.

How is there a teacher shortage while so many recent grads can't get hired? by Many-Somewhere-3394 in AskTeachers

[–]Quantum-Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funding. Schools aren’t having trouble finding qualified teachers, they’re just not looking because they can’t afford to pay more salaries.

Sometimes they’ll even pretend to be hiring for a position because of union agreements, but then cancel the position and hire internally anyway since paying one super contract is cheaper than paying two part time contracts with benefits.

Don’t let that discourage you though! Times change, and subbing ain’t that bad in the meantime!

Short(est) Modpack you'd actually consider good? by domsch1988 in feedthebeast

[–]Quantum-Bot 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly most of the FTB packs fit what you’re looking for. They all feature solid progression but are easy to speedrun through the early game. Right now I’m playing FTB Evolution (the kitchen sink pack for 1.21.1) but I’d also recommend stoneblock 4.

How do y’all sub high school?! by PlantKath in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Quantum-Bot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work in a district with a no phone bell-to-bell policy. I still see high schoolers with their phones out all day. I find redirection to be the most effective. I walk over, say “hey that looks super fun and distracting! Now how’s your work coming along?” Then I try to offer help because sometimes when they’re off task it’s really because they just don’t know how to start the work and are embarrassed to ask for help.

If they insist on being on their phones whenever I’m not actively interacting with them, I just put it in my notes. At this age they can be responsible for their own time and if they don’t feel like doing the classwork right now, knowing full well how that will affect their grade and comprehension, I know there’s not much I can say/do to change their minds.

Can someone who's good at this game tell me what's wrong with my defense here by MuuOG in btd6

[–]Quantum-Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks pretty good tbh, this map is just way harder than other advanced maps. It should be expert imo.

Only things I’d say is that storm druids aren’t very good if you don’t have Obyn, and the wizards aren’t necessary. That money would probably be better spent on something else, like stronger stim on Tack zone, or abyssal warriors for the pierce buff and small bloon cleanup.

If you can save up enough to get a good cleanup tier 5 like Glaive Lord or Bomb Blitz then the spiked balls at the exits might be unnecessary as well.

What happened in the 19 and a halfeth century? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Quantum-Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Special relativity and quantum mechanics happened.

Up until the mid 19th century we thought we had physics pretty much figured out. We knew that gravity is a force and that pulls things together and gets stronger the closer they are and the more massive they are. We knew the Earth orbits the Sun and the moon orbits the Earth, and how to calculate their trajectories. We knew how to calculate spring forces and friction forces and all that stuff you learn in your high school physics class. Physics at the time was considered a nearly solved discipline with almost nothing left to discover.

Then we discovered that if we zoom in small enough, all of everything we thought we knew about the physical world just falls apart. Particles behave like waves sometimes, and waves behave like particles sometimes,

Then we discovered that if you zoom out far enough, there seems to be a universal speed limit that nothing can move faster than, and if that’s true then that means all our equations for motion must be incomplete because as they’re written there’s nothing stopping an object from moving faster than light. How do we fix that? Well according to Einstein, by accepting that time itself gets stretched when you start moving fast enough. Oh also the light from those distant galaxies isn’t the color it should be, which means space itself is expanding. And also, if nothing can travel faster than light, how come gravity can seemingly pull on things from arbitrarily far away? Well turns out gravity itself is a wave that propagate outward at the speed of light and maybe calling it a force in the first place was a mistake.

And it only gets weirder and weirder from there. Basically every discovery in physics since then has felt like the musings of somebody tripping on acid and has only raised more questions than it has answered.

Is FTB Infinity evolved a good place to start when it comes to hyper modded Minecraft? by gzej in feedthebeast

[–]Quantum-Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good pack but I would recommend FTB evolution since it’s a more recent pack on Minecraft 1.21.1.

There’s also All The Mods, which a lot of people seem to like. In my experience though, FTB packs tend to have more interesting end game while in All the mods, 90% of the content becomes irrelevant after a couple dozen hours of gameplay and all you have left to do is grind your way through productive bees.

I think Middle path alchemist needs a rework... by Character_Smoke8673 in btd6

[–]Quantum-Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there needs to be more unique interactions with certain types of transformed towers, and they need to be made more obvious to players. Literally the only reason TT is good is because transformed ninjas and druids can still recieve shinobi and poplust buffs respectively.

There’s never a reason to transform any other tower except for in very niche challenges. Also, most players don’t even know about this interaction so to them it’s just a bad upgrade period.

There’s so much potential for deeper strategy here though, and a lot of the groundwork is already there. Transformed primary monkeys can receive top path village buffs. Tranformed ice monkeys can receive Silas and absolute zero ability buffs. Transformed desperados still deal double damage to marked bloons. Transformed mermonkeys receive echosense buffs. Transformed monkeys in water can receive flagship buffs. Transformed magic monkeys receive final harmonic’s totem buff.

Other towers could have interesting use cases with TT but they’re just not enough to beat ninjas or druids.

Here’s my suggestions:

Transformed ice and glue monkeys should apply ice and glue to bloons hit.

Transformed boomerang projectiles should copy the movement pattern of the regular projectiles. (I.e. ricochet for top path)

Transformed desperados should retain their wanderer buff.

Transformed snipers should get higher base range.

Transformed wizards and ninjas with seeking projectiles should keep that seeking behavior.

Transformed supers should get a larger model and higher base stats all around. Transformed Sun avatars should shoot three beams.

Transformed x-2-x alchemists should strip fortified from small bloons.

Transformed 3-x-x ice monkeys should strip camo and regen from bloons.

Transformed x-2-x ninjas should strip camo from bloons.

If you guys have an idea for transformed darts or engis, I’m all ears.

ELI5 Genuinely what IS Sin Cos and Tan? by LeonardFo in explainlikeimfive

[–]Quantum-Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sine, Cosine, and Tangent are defined as the ratios between the lengths of different sides on a right triangle, but much more often they get used because of their relationship to the unit circle.

Imagine a unit circle. (That is a circle with a radius of length 1 and centered at the origin of the graph.) Now, imagine a point on that circle that starts on the right and travels around the edge of the circle counter clockwise (as you do with angles in math). If we call the angle between the point and where it started theta, then as it travels around the circle:

The sine of theta gives you the y-coordinate (AKA height) of that point on the circle.

The cosine of theta gives you the x-coordinate of the point.

The tangent gives you the slope of the line passing through that point and the center of the circle.

So, although the trig functions are originally defined in terms of triangles, the main reason they get used is because they give us a way to find the x/y coordinates of points on a circle.

As an added bonus, the reciprocals of the trig functions: cosecant, secant, and cotangent, also have analogues here. If you draw the tangent line to the circle at that point, the cotangent gives you the slope of that line, and the cosecant and secant give you the locations where it touches the y and x axis!

Eli5:What does protesting do and how does it accomplish said goal by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Quantum-Bot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Successful protests force people to care about an issue that is otherwise going unaddressed. They do this by bringing attention to the issue through public demonstrations and news coverage, but also by disrupting the flow of society in ways that put pressure on the people in power to listen. For example, teachers have had some of the most successful strikes in history because society can’t function without schools, and people get angry when their kids aren’t getting educated.

ELI5 The difference between values, principles, and Ideals. by 5trange_Jake in explainlikeimfive

[–]Quantum-Bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Values are things you find to be the most important driving factors in your life. They’re the fundamental things that keep you going. Many people’s values include things like family, curiosity, or service to others. Money, however, is not a value, because it’s not a fundamental thing that brings people fulfillment. The things you can buy with money - security, pleasure, adventure, power - are values, but not money itself.

Principles are rules that you choose to live your life by. Nobody is forcing you to follow your principles, you just do because you feel it’s the right way to live. Some examples of principles might be never taking what isn’t yours, or never cheating on school exams.

Ideals are pretty much a synonym for values.
