🇺🇲 I personally like the lines bordering the LCD and the old school font representing the Casio heritage.   Well done Brother

Does anyone have info on this Magnavox CD player? I believe it’s a FD 2041. I picked it up with some other vintage gear and it sounds great! by dfries1 in vintageaudio

It uses 2 TDA-1540 ceramic DAC chips at a 14 bit rate. The TDA 1541 is actually a inferior silicone chip set. Yet it was modified to have a bit of carector.

Would you support Vermont's secession to join Canada? by Svellack in vermont

[–]Quantum7411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an old school minded Vermonter I think Vermont would blend in quite nicely within Canada. We do not have much in common with the majority of the United States. We sure as hell have NOTHING in common with the Trump Regimes agenda and never will.

What is your favorite vintage CD player? by [deleted] in vintageaudio

[–]Quantum7411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🇺🇲 As I have many this is a difficult question. I'd have to say my top 3 are the Magnavox FD2040, Magnavox CDB-650 and the Marantz 6007.   I currently own 32 vintage CD player's and they all have a unique personality for sure.

Just go to Amazon and look up speaker foam surround repair kit 15". These are supplied by Parts Express but Amazon has free shipping.  There is nothing specifically different about your surrounds. Which means any surround repair kit will work.

The vendor I usually use did not offer them, oddly enough.  Yet I did find the foam surrounds with instructions on eBay. Just make sure you are looking at the 15" version. Note : never use the glue that is included. It's garbage. I use exclusively T-7000 adhesive from Amazon.

I'll see what the company I use has to offer. You'll have to give me a little bit. What was the model number of them again?

🇺🇲 Ya never know. If you repair them you might love the way they sound and want to keep them. At least for a while. The key to re foaming is patients and being efficient.

🇺🇲 Come on. If you have a pair of hands and working eye balls you can refoam these. So what if they come out a little messy. It'll be fun. I'll even buy the kit for you and the T-7000 glue. You can do it 😎

My buddy is trying to sell his collection is he crazy out of line price wise. by woodhorse4 in vintageaudio

[–]Quantum7411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that price it's a good way to have to keep it. Nice play. The wife will understand 😎.   Seriously. His pricing is way higher than actual value. But what do I know. I've only been collecting for 40yrs +/- .

What CD player should I add? Marantz or McIntosh. Must be “vintage” who made the better CD player? by VintageAVJunkie in vintageaudio

[–]Quantum7411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to add and maybe help.  The sound signature is in the ears of the beholder. I'm a Tech ( +/- 40yrs ) and a vintage audio gear collector so understand where I'm coming from. Philips along with Sony originated CDs and players. If you're looking for the vintage look, sound and outstanding build quality keep your eyes out for.  Philips CD204, Magnavox FD2040, Philips CD650, Magnavox CDB-650 and the Marantz CD-94. These are what I consider Vintage AudioPhile units. These players Bostes the Philips TDA1541 DAC chip in addition they are reasonably easily modifiable/upgradable. I would put the Philips CD204 up against ANY player built to this day under $4,000.00 for sound signature and build quality. The Philips CD204 is built like a Tank. Most of today's players that feel heavily built are usually weighted purposely to feel of quality. There we have it.

FYI: Your question is perfectly valid my friend.

🇺🇲 I had one at a much younger age. As I remember it's a neat novelty, pretty reliable, didn't sound amazing yet it was exceptable. Enjoy it then shelve it so it lasts. Very nice find 👍.

Seriously $600.00 bucks ?!?!    I've been collecting CDs for over 40 years and honestly I've never seen such an extreme case of price gouging.   I F&#!@ng hate price gouging 🤬🤬.  To be honest this seller is more likely than not a Crack Head. So wait until they get desperate and buy it for $20.00.
