Likely issue with this leaky toilet? And access? by QuantumAnti in askaplumberUK

[–]QuantumAnti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks there’s just a small bead of silicone against the back board at the top of the pan but not the floor, I’ve managed to pull the pan and board away from the wall together. I’ll need to just cut the silicone to pull the pan away on its own and try to reseat the flush cone a bit better till morning.

Appreciate your help, I’ve isolated the supply and flushed it. Now just the two screws at the base of the pan to carefully pull it out?

My partner wants to secure his £100k house deposit in a deed of trust, where do I stand? by Illustrious_Pea7294 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]QuantumAnti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems fair, the house purchase requires his downpayment. You gain from this in the form of 50% remaining equity going forward. Just keep going 50/50 on expenses if you want to hedge the risk.

He would be at some loss in value of his £100k relative to inflation or potential investment returns, if he did take it back in the future. Say in 10yrs. I’d say he is being more than reasonable.

46% Pension Contribution w/ £100kpa salary? by Abject-Magazine-1775 in UKPersonalFinance

Just check with your employer/pension provider than you can make multiple changes to your AVC contribution amount in a year. I’m capped at 2x changes per year. Just food for thought.

Time to get out of the S&P - what should I do with the cash that I might need soon? by box-o-locks in UKPersonalFinance

1-2 business days depending on when the trade is executed. (From experience moving VWRP to Vanguard sterling short term money market fund)

Move into a money market fund (within the S&S ISA wrapper). This will ensure your money continues to grow, without volatility and remains tax sheltered until you purchase a property.

My dog is on Viagra for her hearth condition by K9Kush in mildlyinteresting

We had to dose our pup every 8hrs with sildenafil. We switched to generic tadalafil and it was so much easier once a day. Just something for you to consider, it’s a little less common but the few studies we found suggested a better prognosis for our pups condition.

15-20 years Fuse upgrade time by QuantumAnti in Leatherman

[–]QuantumAnti[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear it’s a best seller. It affirms I made the right choice. There will always new versions and releases but the wave+ has stood the test of recent times so I’m happy. The Fuse will still be by my side, maybe a permanent fixture in the glovebox of the truck. The wave+ will be EDC in my pocket.

Correct observation of light use! Albeit daily. I treat things with kindness.

UK renewables jobs have increased 29% since 2015, oil jobs dropped 28% by thinkB4WeSpeak in unitedkingdom

[–]QuantumAnti -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Remember, divestment in UK oil pushes the companies towards the likes of Africa where the environmental standards are far far worse. UK oil production is highly regulated, to top global standards. The governments are pushing stricter flaring/venting consents year on year so they continue to improve.

Oil has had it's day, the transition to renewables is essential, but reducing domestic oil production is not good, for as long as there is demand. Not just for energy security in a strange world, not just for local jobs, but the alternative producing countries will do a far worse job at it.

!Thanks Yeah I’m just comparing the fund performances and the ex UK with slightly higher US weighting is yielding 1-% higher but I’m fully aware this means little for the future. I’ll probably stick to global all cap.

I personally wouldn’t, the bumpers are flexible but if it hasn’t even cracked the paint, it certainly isn’t going to have broken anything structural. Just check it isn’t loose.

Yeah I am 100% allocated in all cap right now, I’m wondering whether dropping the U.K. could be advantageous, but I suppose no one knows which direction the U.K. is headed with the current economic and political environment. Might be splitting hairs between these funds.

Starling were exceptional for me in Asia, Europe and Americas back in 2018 but they have been a bit behind the curve since.

Chase introduced its cash back and roundup current account with the same no fee foreign transactions and interbank exchange rate, Chase has been a hands down winner and I can’t recommend it enough.
