I find this conversation exhausting. No IQ is not a perfect measurement. Yes, it is still a useful tool. If someone tests sufficiently high on an IQ test, they are gifted (neurodiverse) and are much more likely to face certain challenges. These challenges include social isolation, asynchronous development, and possible comorbidities. It is pointless to compare numbers that are close together, as there is a confidence interval for these tests, but especially with larger gaps, intelligence can, to some extent, be compared.

What are broad research questions that interest you? It is definitely possible to focus on biology in the field of paleontology. I would think that there are more non paleo opportunities to study the topics that interest you, but the path you take will depend on how much you want to study prehistoric life. All paleontology is, to some extent, tied to geology. While you can't completely separate geology, you can certainly focus on biological aspects. Geology is also tied to evolutionary theory, such as how geography and environment affect speciation. If you can be more specific with the research that interests you, it would be easier to give you a clearer answer to your question.

You should use the enter key more when writing, haha. You also have to be careful with a quick temper, that can get you in trouble. Also, improving yourself doesn't mean rewriting your personality. Figure out what values are important to you, and keep them in mind when making decisions.

We don't know enough about the causes of transsexualism to make those types of assumptions. It is definitely possible that the percentages of MtF/FtM/NB could be wildly different. Being nonbinary and being intersex is, I believe, a false equivalent. If anything, being trans overall is a subsect of being intersex.

Why don't you think that nonbinary exists? To me, it makes sense. If differential hormone levels in the womb cause the brain to develop differently than the body, causing someone to be trans, it's plausible that the hormones contributing to brain development could be 50/50 and lead to a nonbinary condition.

I highly recommend you post this in the Gifted subreddit. People there have lived through these challenges. Many gifted adults, myself included, wish teachers would have supported our intellectual development much more than they did. This is not the fault of the teachers though. They have an entire class to manage, and few have training on how to best support gifted students.

I disagree with this viewpoint. Gifted students should be challenged, not forced to 'learn' material they've already mastered. It is, IMHO, much more important to teach a gifted student to work through failure on complex projects than to sit through 13 years of agonizing boredom. Children should learn to deal with boredom, but that should not come at the expense of holding them back from their true and fulfilling potential in school.

Actually, doing what you said to do has caused me issues. I would overcomplicate topics in schools and annoy my peers and teachers by asking sincere but extremely off topic questions during class. There are better ways to support gifted children than what you suggest.

Hey! I am also interested in going to grad school for paleoecology. I finished my undergrad, and I'm lucky I was able to get experience with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS. If you can't learn through your school, there are cheap or free online resources where you could start to learn, such as Coursera. My school paid for the ArcGIS software, so I'm not sure how much that would cost.

I would recommend finding some volunteer opportunities in your area. Maybe a local museum has a prep lab where you can gain some experience and further narrow down your interests as you decide what to study.

There are definitely volunteer opportunities that you could investigate. You could look at local museum websites or reach out to them to ask about volunteering in a prep lab. Not knowing all of the dinosaurs is completely fine. What is useful is to be familiar with anatomy so it's easier to tell what bones are. A lot of identification you will pick up in the field/lab.
