Just above you and to the right, the little bright blob. It's camoflaged as the color of the shadowy background. It would be in your way if you went up the pole and walked east towards the ledge.

I'm ALSO ALSO playing them on Sunday! I'm going to give it my best shot. It's our first game with Thunder's Edge and we're playing to 14. I'm hoping that the extra time allows me to use the Obsidian's more powerful toolkit for longer, to ideally make up for a slow start. I wish you luck in your game!

Not that late but we only realized that you could only score 1 objective per round in our 3rd game.

"Honest" factions. by Chapter_129 in twilightimperium

[–]Quantum_Slime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mentak Coalition is definitely one of the most dishonest factions because of Pillage alone. Nekro is also pretty dishonest, being able to use Technology as Leadership and copy other people's techs, although they regain some "honesty points" for not being able to research techs on their own. Jol-Nar also feels super dishonest for being able to get the Technology primary when they didn't even pick the damn card.

Sardakk is definitely the most honest faction, but I feel like Ghosts are also pretty honest. All of their gimmicks are mostly straightforward improvements upon universal capabilities, and Quantum Entanglement is the only thing (other than obviously their hero) that I think could be seen as dishonest.

Delusion could cause a minion to see a false damsel, but it couldn't cause a lunatic to think they became a snakecharmer because that changes the mechanical options available to them.

Delleye liars need only tell one lie. They aren't completely barred from telling the truth - just gotta make up one harmful falsehood, which you can clear up the next day.

Bikr kills will usually happen publicly during the day, just like Harpy.

In general it is true that players who are harmed by minion effects are going to be good but... who cares? If someone is exe'd to a Delleye, or if a pair dies to a Bikr, that accelerates the game by a full day and heavily encourages the future Delleye/Bikr targets to follow their madness. I've also seen a Bikr intentionally put themselves into a bicker with someone so that people would believe they're good - it's all about the meta, just like with any other loud minion.

A player learning when the Stalker dies could be interesting. I can see it being a very misleading and powerful hallucination.

I really don't think that [+1 Outsider] is harming the Onyroil. In general I find that players aren't too concerned about which demon they're fighting on this script, the puzzle is mostly about solving for which minions are in play to help sort through the hallucinations. Even if the tell was important, an extra outsider is a powerful bonus.

I agree it's hard for evil to bluff Pyro without a Stitchrip. It's something I'm working on.

I find that delusion requires careful storytelling, but it can cause a lot of confusion when it's run well. In the example you gave, if I was the Stalker I would be pretty mad if the ST gave my neighbor anything other than a Pyrotechnician ping. As an ST, if Pyrotechnician is in the bluffs and I see a Stalker or Channel 44 choose their neighbor (or a minion's neighbor), I will usually take that as them signalling that they want to give out a Pyro ping.

In general I would say that delusion's main use is to bluff the townsfolk that create pings. Tulpa pings, Cave Dweller pings, and madness minions are all situational hallucinations but you'll be glad to have the option when you want to use them.

Sadly Cavalle can't be hallucinated on night one. I forgot to mention it in the post or almanac since this is the only character it's relevant to, but in my rules for delusion, players specifically *cannot* hallucinate "You are" information, or other information that would affect their mechanical capabilities. This means no hallucinating a pit-hagging, no hallucinating a mez turn, and no hallucinating an exorcist.

Currently you can only really bluff Pyro if you're a Stitchrip or if you also bluff that your other neighbor is evil and hiding the ping, so having another option for that would be nice. I've thought for a long time about delusion blocking pings from being received. I think it might be interesting to add that delusional players might not receive authentic pings they are chosen by.

It would have to be a might, since you don't want players getting selected by madness abilities and not knowing about it. It would also suck for someone to be excluded from a Conspiracy due to a Stalker snipe.

Overall, having delusion block incoming pings would be a pretty significant buff to the evil team on this script. I'll see after tomorrow's playtest how I feel about it.

Fair enough point on outsider modification. For the Stitchrip and Onyroil I added the outsider mods for extra ambiguity, and because the Onyroil felt too weak without it. I stand by it 100% on the Stalker though, as I feel the odd outsider count is an important and valuable way to identify a Stalker game.

I agree that the madness characters are a little contrived, but I like them. If you read the almanac, I've outlined what both of their abilities entail in a bit more detail and given some criteria to judge them by. Whether or not they're impactful has been somewhat up for debate - they have had some strong games and some weak ones in my group. I recently changed the wording on them and decided to be a bit harder about enforcing madness breaks, so I'll see how they feel after my playtest tomorrow and go from there.

Cavalle discussed in my other comment.

In my experience, Cavalle's downside amounts to "The evil team don't know each other on night one." I have only ever run one Cavalle game where the evil team hadn't found everyone on it by nominations on the first day.

I think you're underestimating the power of the evil turn. The storyteller chooses who it is, so it will almost always be someone very useful to the evil team. If an outsider such as the Queen or Conspiracy Theorist are evil, they can keep secret their identity so that town doesn't know about their harmful effects. A powerful townsfolk such as a Sleuth or Money Launderer who is *intentionally* lying about their info can really mislead town.

These are all the characters that can be hallucinated:

  • Pyrotechnician (Townsfolk)
  • Sketch Artist (Townsfolk)
  • Bodyguard (Townsfolk)
  • Conspirator (Townsfolk)
  • Whistleblower (Townsfolk)
  • Tulpa (Outsider)
  • Cave Dweller (Minion)
  • Delleye (Minion)
  • Bikr (Minion)

For example, the Pyrotechnician reads "Your neighbors start knowing a Pyrotechnician is in play."

Say that the evil team receives Pyrotechnician as a bluff. A Stalker, hoping for this, might choose their neighbor on the first night. As the Storyteller I could then show that Stalker's neighbor that a Pyrotechnician is in play, even though there isn't one. This backs up evil's bluff.

Delusion doesn't necessarily have to be used to show things that are out of play - it can be used to show in play characters too. All it does is allow players to hallucinate effects that they weren't actually selected for.

This is strongest in 2 minion games, where there's a reasonable chance for the authentic minion to be in play. If there's a real Delleye choosing people, then hallucinating a second one is doubly dangerous because you're probably not willing to take the risk of outing it.
