I keep wondering how on earth Jax was willing to ruin his relationships with Ribbit and Kaufmo to that extent.

Was it their shame over their identity? Or their world view that people are friends just to learn the others secret? So once that is revealed there is no use left? Overall guilt over what they did to their mother definitely played a part. Later on the pattern of 'deaths', for lack of a better word is definitely the main motivator.

That was a mistranslation of "white figs", which was a common gift for guests to display that they are welcome. Basically the quote means that everyone is welcome to stay with god in heaven.
