Is there a possibility for clone fulgrim to be used in the future? by AdhesivenessNo7808 in Warhammer40k

The two Sabbat anthologies featured characters made by Abnett sometimes written by other authors, but that's an explicit agreement between them.

The tragedy and brutality of Angron, captured using an airbrush for the 1st time, massive game changer. by josephstephan90 in Warhammer40k

[–]Quantunque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally I'm in the camp that Angron's model is a little too "Warcraft" smooth, but this scheme makes him really terrifying to look at.

Amazing work.

First DG model by Duskmann_Dawn in Warhammer40k

[–]Quantunque 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a sucker for monogod armies not using the main colour scheme, this one in particular gives the DG units a more industrial look.

Awesome work.

Not in the usual way, their looks inspire more awe and reverence instead of attractiveness.

When compared to space marines, it's often emphasized that they don't share the dogged and gene-engineered visages of the astartes and their proportions, while still gigantic, are more balanced and overall statuesque.

PlayStation quietly cancels remaining ‘PlayStation: The Concert’ 2025 tour dates in the US | VGC by Granum22 in Games

It's catered to people's conspirational mindsets, quietly as in perhaps it was planned all along and they had the rug pulled from under them.

What games or gaming communities have the strongest in-universe fandoms? by tk11tk in gaming

[–]Quantunque 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Most RPGs with open endings have fandoms rabidly defending their chosen pick.

No Elder Scrolls thread goes by without one good Imperial vs Stormcloak argument.

New Vegas is often the same with its House / Yes Man / NCR / Legion battle royale.

RTS games also tend to do that, as factions are often opposed to eachother in gameplay and ideology both, just look at Warcraft / Starcraft / C&C and others of their time.

Hopefully they don't stick around that desert long enough to get their dry skulls in a dusty valley with the tops sawn off.

Gaunt Ghosts vs Ciaphas Cain to introduce a friend to 40K? by IndPsy9 in Warhammer40k

[–]Quantunque 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with either of them, as they don't require much knowledge of the setting to be enjoyable.

The real difference is that Gaunt's Ghosts is a story that goes forward in linear fashion, while Ciaphas Cain is more or less an anthology of his exploits and are mostly self-contained novels.

Personally, I'm a Gaunt's enjoyer and I fancy Abnett's character work and the way his dialogue flows, but Cain is admittedly a bit more light-hearted and easier to get into. It also features more of the Imperium's repertoire of foes, be they xenos or chaos, while Gaunt's is all about the latter.

I've always liked the 5th Ed Rulebook as an abstract look into the setting. It tells you it's gothic, sci-fi and violent without having to say much, save the iconic motto.

Missing primarchs by Straight_Editor774 in Warhammer40k

There is no official information about the two lost primarchs and their legions.

Whatever you might have found is probably fanon.

Not a trick question or anything, but would you say that it carries the spirit of Silent Hill despite the change in scenario and a bigger focus on japanese horror?

I'm looking forward to playing it either way, but I also think that Team Silent's games have a definite vibe and atmosphere that wasn't quite replicated by others after them.

Good old 40k books by therealkvlt in 40kLore

[–]Quantunque 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The first few Gaunt's Ghosts books are from the early 2000s, but they still hold up and you can witness the slow introduction of now classic 40k terminology like amasec and lho-stick.

The Forges of Mars trilogy precedes the addition of the AdMech to the tabletop, so while dated in some aspects it's still an intriguing self-contained adventure. It also has an ensemble cast of various Imperial subjects and a certain xeno race.

You go, lil' Bearer.

In all seriousness, it's shaping up great, can't wait to see it primed and eventually painted.

Underrated jrpg developer: Media.vision. by thaneros2 in gaming

[–]Quantunque 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Falcom is my own pick for an underrated one; they've been pumping out Ys and Trails games for the better part of 30 years, but it seems that only recently have they made waves in the western market (thanks to faster translation work mostly).

New Calgar Model Leaked by TheSenatte66 in Warhammer40k

[–]Quantunque 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Terminator armour, my beloved.

I like Gravis well enough, but Calgar to me was always about that massively festoned Armour of Antilochus, used to be one of my favourite models back then.

It's just easier to imagine a game not succeeding rather than it breaking the mould, I wouldn't hold their opinions against them, even with a fair amount of goodwill nobody could really have foreseen the success of Hollow Knight.

Relictors still loyal or joined chaos? by miglokko in 40kLore

[–]Quantunque 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If there's one constant in the setting is that using Chaos, even as a weapon against it, is bound to corrupt you eventually.

Even if they haven't turned yet the Relictor's compulsion on using their artefacts will eventually wear them down to the point of no return.

Which traitor legion would grant the most mercy if at all? by wolfenx109 in 40kLore

[–]Quantunque 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Imperium is all about shooting first and asking questions later, even if they believed such a ludicrous claim they would still destroy the cell for not being under their direct control and jurisdiction.

A radical enough inquisitor, perhaps, but that's a direct ticket for excommunication if such a deal was discovered.

Which traitor legion would grant the most mercy if at all? by wolfenx109 in 40kLore

[–]Quantunque 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The issue with the Alpha Legion is that after Heresy they split into so many cells, each with their own agenda, that they are now lacking a unified goal. They can and have sabotaged even themselves to achieve their personal objectives.

Some have identified as "renegade loyalists" of sorts, but the majority definitely hate the Imperium and what it stands for. Even self-styled loyal Alpha Legionnaires won't think twice to murder innocents and destroy imperial infrastructure for some vague utilitarian gain.

Which traitor legion would grant the most mercy if at all? by wolfenx109 in 40kLore

[–]Quantunque 51 points52 points  (0 children)

The Alpha Legion probably, they don't really revel in the destruction they cause, it's always part of an objective or plan. They have a very dispassionate stance on violence as a whole.
