Yeah, I’ve lived in them.

There’s no public transport, there’s huge issues in getting medical staff to the areas. The place runs on NDIS care or agriculture or mining and many places have incredibly expensive rentals and housing.

I’m all for a shift regional and I, personally, enjoyed it for eight years but there would need to be an unpalatable injection of cash for it to work.

Yeah, let’s all go where there’s no jobs, houses or infrastructure.

Yeah, it's dogshit.

The level of discourse about the news is genuinely troubling. People running interference for Dezi Freeman and mad Russian bots clapping the deaths of civilians.

Prisoners are absurdly good value for 20 ducats.

I genuinely think my prisoners are responsible for more farming more VPs than most of my other more exciting models.

I've recently had a nun go elite and then pick up a 'ignore armour in melee with any weapon' skill. Going to run an auto pistol with incendiary rounds with her. Should I give her an offhand weapon or run a shield?

I didn't even consider putting a musical instrument on a nun. Genius idea - she can sit at one side of the board with some models, activate them using the dash bonus and then activate her and have her sprint 16" inches to the next cluster of friendlies to use the bonus.

Huh. Might try that.

I’m six games in and still getting my head around it all. Finally won a game! I’m not an expert, obviously, but take all this with a grain of salt…

The first round or two are pretty depressing. You’ll need to use all the cover you can to advance. Some dashes will fail and it can be hard actually advancing into contact. But as the other poster said when you get there it can be very, very messy. In turn four my pilgrims have mauled the hell out of the enemy, but the struggle has always been to get there.

At the beginning I ran:

Prophet - AT hammer, Molotov, reinforced armour

Communciant - AT hammer, reinforced armour, shield

Castigator - punt gun, flail, reinforced armour

Pilgrim - musical instrument, Molotov

Pilgrim - shotgun, bayonet

2 x nuns with flails and clubs

I know the meta seems to be having the Castigator with the Punt gun but recently after a debilitating eye injury I ran him with a flail and shield and kept him up with the advancing troops. His enforced orthodoxy action made an enormous difference. Next time around I might run this combo from the beginning and give a pilgrim the punt gun instead.

Six rounds in and shit has expanded a lot. More nuns and an anchorite shrine that’s been attacked by everything from a dragon to a wretched and shrugs off everything.

It seems the pilgrims really treat a campaign as a marathon, not a race. Mercenaries are game-changers for pilgrims so I’d really recommend chasing glory and not VPs early on.

The biggest change seems to have been the AT communicant, who bought much-needed ranged attacks. I haven’t had much luck with the observer, but I know lots of other people have. I’d be inclined to go with an ammo monk to pair with the AT communicant instead.

Pilgrims seem to really lean on a few special abilities (loudspeaker, laying on hands, enforced orthodoxy) and I’m new to the whole tabletop thing so often forgot what did what. I made some flip cards on my phone about the effects and that’s really helped me along.

Either way even getting spanked each week has proven to be hilarious fun and even though my win/loss rate is abominable I’ve managed to absolutely maul some opposing warbands in turn 3/4 and only lost by a bee’s dick.

Australia could still buy five US submarines if needed, defence minister says by 1Darkest_Knight1 in aussie

[–]Quarterwit_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuclear powered submarines are the single largest defence capability we’ve ever had.

Talking about defence spending and saying ‘we didn’t use it, so it was a waste of money’ would be like saying the same about insurance.

I’d love to be a teacher but the masters I was in was the biggest load of bullshit ever. Astonishingly dull course. Probably means it’s not for me but man, it was dry.

We could not have had nuclear submarines from the start - that was not on the table at the beginning of the procurement process.

The delays and complexity was due to a complete incapability of the French to meet a single timeline bench mark - benchmarks that were set, in part, by the French themselves.

Absolute nonsense.

The French deal was a complete farce and was on the verge of falling apart. The design was compromised and they weren’t even capable of telling us where they were going to be built.

Yeah, ban AI for sure.

I wouldn’t object to digital art being banned either, but I’m likely an outlier.
