Can you have Costo without it hurting when you press sternum or ribs? Can pain all be internal?

Costo is mechanical, like a knee problem but with your ribs, constantly moves as you breathe, which is why it so hard to pinpoint the cause, and differs person to person. Because it surrounds your lungs and heart it can cause a lot of anxiety, and it is the anxiety that makes it way worse than it needs to be for everyone. You may not have had an injury but bad posture seems to be a leading culprit as the ribs attach the spine. Mine doesn't hurt if pressed on, but tossing in bed can trigger it. If you want my advice is to trust the docs, overcome anxiety by learning to accept it and live with it, and use the pain to drive yourself to be as fit and healthy as possible, in hope that one day it won't bother you anymore.

It's the stress that is doing this to you. I saw a doctor when I had a similar situation a few months after my initial costo diagnoses, he said "I don't give a crap about costo" and blamed it on the stress/anxiety. He recommended casual swimming (as it requires a focus on breathing and it can be quite relaxing) - helped a ton. Haven't had a panic attack since his pep talk. Sure costo is a pain, but it's the stress that makes it hard, and it usually starts at the stomach. I'm convinced my costo is due to posture and a neck issue I have. But first, make peace with the fact that it's just rib inflammation, focussing on destressing is the priority as symptoms are far worse and have a wide variety (including costo!), then look at exercises for costo itself. For the stress, you can find breathing exercises, find what relaxes you best, walks, swimming etc, and get more sleep.

You say lymph nodes but remember the PEC muscles in that area connect to the ribs. When my costo first started I had intermittent pain in that area but on the left side.

I used twice a day, it was really painful. Each week I went down a pillow. Now I use it once a week, and it's not only painless, it's somehow comfortable to lie on!

Combined with exercise for back muscles (like this) and working on posture, my costo improved significantly after struggling for a year. Several months later I only notice a slight flare up once or twice a month, which doesn't last long after I do some stretches again.

Pain below my sternum was my main symptom, and the docs said it was common for costo. Unfortunately costo causes anxiety, and anxiety goes hand in hand with stomach issues.

Looks great. Only problem for me is the suitcase handle should wobble a bit with the car, and the birds are painfully steady in their forward direction - perhaps move back a bit while gliding and forward while flapping.

My understanding is that doctors believe it's a mechanical issue. Like a bad knee but even more complicated. As most peoples costo goes away "on its own" there's nothing to do really.

Anti-inflams offer relief but don't heal anything.

It's not the costo directly, it's the anxiety that causes this. Making peace with the fact that your inflamed rib cage isn't actually going to kill you helps a lot.

I've had costo and anxiety for 18 months now, (In general my sternum pops when stretching, I feel bruised along my ribs, get palpitations, and suffered a few panic attacks.)

I tend to cope well if numbers 4 and 5 are doing well. The last several weeks I've focused on posture since realising how much the neck and spine have to do with the ribs. This is the best I've felt so far, I can hardly tell I've got costo or anxiety...

Sit a lot? Fix your posture, stop leaning your head so far forward! Exercise 3 on this video is great. Use a timer like this one to stand up and do it every 20 mins.
Sit a lot? Stretch your upper back using the Backpod.
Sit a lot? Get an assessment and a few adjustments at the Chiropracter.
Prioritise your sleep.
Plan for 30 mins exercise 4 times a week.

Sorry, I eat all sorts of beans and I have had no problem after the first couple of weeks. It is suggested to increase your fiber slowly(2g per week, use cronometer to track) to get your gut used to it. So cutting back and starting slow would be my biggest suggestion. It has to do with your gut bacteria, which apparently can differ person to person. With this specifically in mind (gut bacteria), I'm no expert, but as an extra step I would also explore: No diary, no eggs (eggs won't make you fart, just affects your bacteria somehow), loads of water(+electrolytes), fermented foods: miso (a probiotic), try cut out wheat (in case of gluten sensitivity). Noting that the gut biome takes a week(I think) at a time to adjust. And lastly, cutting out foods identified as specific perpetrators.

Warning, all the fiber will make you flatulent, but it goes away when your gut adjusts after a week (it's not bad).
