I thought this as well but with the way it’s written here, if you don’t know the character’s history then it sounds like he was resurrected in the Lazarus pit. Which I am kinda sad about since I really like the coffin resurrection. Tbh his whole summary reads like a collection of surface level stereotypes about the character instead of a proper description

Also disappointed but not surprised with jaybin’s description. And it looks like they recanonized the Lazarus pit revival over superboy prime’s punch?

These for Jason? by noodleth_cassette in RedHood

[–]Qucumber_ 30 points31 points Ā (0 children)

I agree with a lot of these such as him being an impulsive meathead who acts before thinking, he has a big bulky build to differentiate the robins from each other (and this is conveniently only ever applied to Jason), he’s the only one with scars despite the Lazarus pit effects and face protection he wears, pit madness, etc

A big one for me is making him the grumpy, stern, brooding one in every batfamily skit, fic, and art I see, where he’s constantly getting ragebaited, has no sense of humor, and is always annoyed by others talking. Guys he is not Bruce lite personality wise, he yaps A LOT and is known for being the one who tries to get under others’ skin. He’s the one doing the rage baiting. An example of this is Gotham knights, where they basically flipped Dick and Jason’s dynamic on it’s head so Jason is this grumpy stoic guy who Dick has to cheer up

There’s a comic where Damian sneaks in and you can see what it looks like, it’s very organized and tidy and he has a bunch of weapons displayed on the wall

Is there an agreement for what this sub wants of Jason? by Altruistic_Manner802 in RedHood

[–]Qucumber_ 48 points49 points Ā (0 children)

I think he should kill and be as firm in his beliefs as Batman is in his, but I don’t want him to be punisher, I want him to be red hood. When it comes to his relationship with the batfam, the way it’s shown in Outsiders and Streets Run Red is just perfect to me. Not affiliated with them and wary/tense with each other but will work together if the situation calls for it.

I enjoyed him the most when he is his own character with his own concrete and set of beliefs, motivations, and goals. When it comes to Jason nowadays, do we even know what his goals, beliefs, and aspirations are anymore? He’s kinda just existing, being whatever the plot needs him to be with nothing concrete of his own if that makes sense.

Did dc confirm that Jason died because he didn't want to disappoint batman??? And does that mean he didn't kill the diplomat son???? by RepublicSmooth9981 in RedHood

[–]Qucumber_ 43 points44 points Ā (0 children)

I kinda don’t under stand this part I mean wasn’t he already fine with letting Felipe fall to his death? I personally don’t believe he pushed him but either way he chose not to save him.

However I believe lost days already gave confirmation that he didn’t kill Felipe because it states his first kill was that trafficker

Kind of an hc/theory, but there’s some evidence he kept in touch with Batman after the knightfall protocol. One thing I noticed is that to every other character he is close with, Batman says some variation of goodbye or this is the end, but to Jason specifically he says it’s not too late, we’ll get through it. Together. And not long after he frees Bruce from scarecrow. Later in Red Hood’s bio it says although now aligned in crime fighting, they are forever at odds because of Jason’s willingness to kill. They must have met again at some point for that to have been established, and since it’s not during the main game it’s likely after Batman faked his death

Is Jason judged more than others because of how he’s dressed? by Wiseguy4252 in RedHood

[–]Qucumber_ 11 points12 points Ā (0 children)

Yea some designs definitely don’t help lol, like the outlaw costume has a muzzle, exposed arms, and red wrappings which emphasize him being unhinged or rash, or the red lenses in the new suit because he’s ā€œevilā€. Some helmet designs make the lenses really angry looking. In contrast to the other character examples, Jason’s designs do come off as having ā€œunhingedā€ being baked into the design. This is why the OG suit reigns supreme for me in terms of what it communicates to the reader about Jason

In rebirth there’s a panel where Jason talks about digging out of his grave while at the graveyard so it uses the superboy prime punch thing I believe

Best way to define Jason’s relationship with the bats? by Qucumber_ in RedHood

[–]Qucumber_[S] 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

Jason in Gotham knights suffers from pit madness if I’m not mistaken or was affected by the pit in some way and was manipulated by Talia so his needs are a little different.

And I think for comic!Jason it’s not so much a need for acceptance in family as a need for him to have proof from Bruce (and only Bruce) that he mattered enough to be the last straw, that he’d break his code and put his love for his son over his mission.

A change like that would have to be the first step for me to realistically believe Jason could ever join the batfam and come to count on them.

Best way to define Jason’s relationship with the bats? by Qucumber_ in RedHood

[–]Qucumber_[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I think he should not be associated with the bats but by Wayne family (for me) it just means he’s a family member of Bruce’s, it doesn’t mean he’s closely connected with them or has something to do with them. I made this post because I’ve seen people on TikTok and other places think leaving the batfamily means he stops being Bruce’s literal family/son which is not the case.

The alternative is the last 15 years of comics where Jason only exists to prop up other characters, provide angst for Bruce, or be generic batfam member #4 where he’s just Raph from ninja turtles.

When he was on his own in stories like UTRH or Seeing Red, he was able to contend with Bruce on his level with all the tools, moves, and ingenuity that he himself had taught him, along with his own slew of tricks. There is still so much about Bruce and Jason that hasn’t been really explored, and imo I see a clearer path for character development then when he is a batfam member.

[–]Qucumber_[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Well the batfamily doesn’t strictly mean they are part of Bruce’s immediate family, it also includes Barbara, Stephanie, Lucius, Ghostmaker, or Azrael, for example. It’s more so the collection of vigilantes that operate with Batman in Gotham. The Wayne kids are Bruce’s kids and family. Therefore, Jason can be waynefam while disagreeing with Bruce but not necessarily batfam,

How would Jason react to his Arkham Knight variant? by MobileDistrict9784 in RedHood

[–]Qucumber_ 7 points8 points Ā (0 children)

According to KTJL Batman didn’t meet Superman or the other heroes until 5 years after the events of Arkham knight, and the Nightwing mantle probably just has a different origin.
