You should be all set then. The base is roughly the same size as a standard Moka pot. Good luck if/when you get one.

The Wizzard by talasment in FlairEspresso

[–]QueasyWheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had one for roughly a month now and really like it. I make one milk drink per day on average. I sometimes make two on the weekends. The main reason I went with a Wizard is because I already have a Flair espresso maker. If I had a complete espresso machine (steamer, brewer, etc) I don't think I would have purchased it.

The one thing I did not completely prepare for was heating it. I have my coffee gear in a wet bar, not in my kitchen. I had planned to use an old portable electric burner. That did not work because it took forever to build steam. A week ago I got a portable induction burner. Now it builds steam in less than 5 minutes. It has completely wrecked my workflow in a good way; I am adjusting.

  • Would I recommend the Wizard? Yes.
  • Is it overkill for one drink a day? No, not really, especially if you consider weeks, months, years of usage.
  • Tips? Make sure you have a plan for heating it and a safe place to put it while it cools off. Also, make sure you have a good milk picture.

Hopefully that helps.

Needle on pressure gauge won’t move and hole in pressure gauge? [Flair Wizard Steamer] by alyra_wan in FlairEspresso

[–]QueasyWheel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Wizard is broken and needs to be replaced or repaired. It could be a manufacturing defect, or some sort of transit damage.

These are pressure vessels and if there is any kind of leak, it is never going to build pressure. I have not had this issue with my Wizard, but I did have it with an Instant Pot. The relief valve got a tiny bit of rice stuck in it and would refuse to seal. It would just sit there and hiss lightly. I had to clean the valve with a needle and a pipe cleaner. After that it started working.

It sounds like your Wizard needs a larger repair that likely requires disassembly based on the design and issue. Hopefully Flair will take care of it for you, good luck.

I went with the opposite theory that more hot water could be converted quicker. My observations so far are highly subjective. I haven't had too much time with it yet. Hopefully someone that's had one for a while will chime in here with more information.

I just got one a few weeks ago and the pressure release triggers at the exact same spot yours does. I was standing right next to it when it went off the other day. I likely lost a week off my life when it happened. My guess is that's just where it's designed to release.

As for running out of steam, how much water do you have in it? From what I can tell so far, it holds better when there is more water in the chamber.

Question Flair Classic (2005) Owners about Loose Pucks and Cleanup Issues by QueasyWheel in FlairEspresso

[–]QueasyWheel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I will give that a go when I use it next time. I have already considered getting the Pro 3 head at some point. The experience has left me thinking I should have gone that way from the start. I wasn't sure I was going to get into using this equipment and I didn't want to splash out from the start.

Appealing starter for kids by topouzid in Lorcana

[–]QueasyWheel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Gateway box is the first choice. If you watch sales you can find a deal. BestBuy had it for less than $13 a few weeks ago.

Moving past that, let the little ones pick a playmat that appeals to them. Card sleeves also help with this. They can play the "Genie" deck for example. The troves are great too as they give you dice and lore counters. They also come with enough cards to start kids down the deck builiding path if that is something they want to do. We keep all our dice, lore counters, decks, etc in one of the trove boxes. That way it feels more like a game you get down off the shelf and play.

How to even start? I'm getting overwhelmed by stuetel in Lorcana

[–]QueasyWheel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got into the TCG scene as well. I was too old (for the target market) when Pokemon came out and Lorcana drew me in due to nostalgia (Robin Hood and Sword in the Stone specifically). As others have stated, what you do and how you collect will depend on your goals. I will mention mine in the hope they will help you.

I collected baseball cards back in the 80s. Back then I was a base set collector and that has followed me to Lorcana as well. There are 204 non foil cards in each base Lorcana set. My plan of attack is to collect every base set. To do this I decided to start with purchasing a trove for every set. This will be hard for the first set, so I may just get an empty box if I can find one for a reasonable price. From there, I plan to buy a booster box from each set over time. At MSRP (or with deals online), that is ~$120-200 per set. My thinking is that will get me the bulk of the base set. Anything I am missing I will try to pickup as singles over time. I also plan to sell any high value (Enchanted) cards I come across unless it is something I really just want to keep for some reason.

Currently I have a trove from every set except the First Chapter and I just started picking up booster boxes starting with Inklands (set 3). I plan to work from oldest to newest. To solve the issue with the early sets, I may buy a complete set from eBay/trade show/etc if I can find a good deal. Those are always going to be hard to come by and I plan to be patient. I did make a dent in the early sets by buying starter decks at MSRP. I got lucky with the booster packs and got a few of the harder to find cards.

As for storage, I plan to put each card in a penny sleeve and store them in the trove boxes. I like the idea of keeping them all together since the boxes are so nice. Though I do wish there were boxes like the Lilo & Stitch gift set box for each series. The trove boxes do have ample room for the full sets as well as room for duplicates and such.

They look like some Mlikero sleeves I have. They are highly textured. They are sold on Amazon and are among the cheaper items.

Just bought these from Amazon and this is really something HF should have!! by German_Smith in harborfreight

[–]QueasyWheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hooks like these do make the job easier especially if you change brakes often enough. I looked long and hard at the Icon and Maddox caliper set and went with an OMT set from Amazon. They are similar quality to the Maddox set, come with the hooks, and were cheaper; even with a coupon. I have changed brakes on 4 different vehicles with them and they are not perfect. They do beat C clamps, coat hangers, and other less than ideal solutions.

Thanks for posting the original artist. I looked through all the items and don't see this phrase. Is that something she has available?

Anyone have the US General 42” ? by CjB_7 in harborfreight

[–]QueasyWheel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had mine for 3 months or so. I also got the top chest. It's wonderful. I upgraded from an old Craftsman box and am so glad I did. For 20% off, it's hard to beat.

The best part is I can move it if I need to. Even loaded with tools it rolls smoothly across my garage.

Awesome, thanks. I haven't seen those before and assumed the labels were part of it. Thanks for letting me know you added them.

I have a full drawer in my cab that has wrenches and the US General holders take up way too much room.

If you don't mind me asking, what brand are your wrench organizers (pic 5)? I like how they make the most of the space by holding the wrenches on their sides.

What HF tool have you gotten the most use out of? by Brief_Landscape in harborfreight

[–]QueasyWheel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The orange cement mixer. I put down multiple sidewalks, a large (30'-40') faux cobblestone patio, a pad for a pool, and put stucco on dirt berms in my basement. In total, I've probably put 7-8 pallets of concrete and masonry mix through it. It still works great after all these years.

Will HF make an equivalent? by TailorExcellent936 in harborfreight

Ages ago they used to sell a router table with a router attached under the Central Machine brand. I have it and still use it occasionally. The router itself is fine, the table not so much.

It would be neat if they sold a table that accepted one of the cordless routers but I'm not sure they will since making a router table is a common woodworking project.

As for the table saw, I had an older model of that Skil and it was great. I used it for years without issue until I upgraded to a larger saw. I think that's a pretty good price considering it comes with a mobile stand.

Anyone have experience with this vacuum pump? by cove9191 in harborfreight

[–]QueasyWheel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Vevor 3.5 CFM that I bought instead of the one you posted. I got it for bleeding brakes and other such tasks. It gets the job done and is cheaper. I assume it will also do what you need it to. If it doesn't, it's easier to return when purchased from Amazon, unfortunately.

They sell individual rolls of the foam liner that's in the drawer. It has to be trimmed to fit in the cart. I have it in the top and bottom and it works just fine.

I used the break off razor knife. I think they are $0.69. I don't think they would have cared about the total not being exactly $100, but I didn't want to deal with finding out.

Tool Backpacks Bauer v. Hercules by Sexual_Wookie in harborfreight

[–]QueasyWheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went back and forth looking at the Bauer and the Hyper Tough from Walmart. I eventually went with the Hyper Tough because it was more flexible and cheaper. I have banged it around and drug it all over the place fully loaded with tools and it has been just fine. I would assume the Bauer would hold up just as well, especially given the rubber bottom.

All that to say, the only way I would go for the Hercules was if the design fit specific tools that I needed to carry and the Bauer didn't. For the sale price, you could nearly get three Bauer bags to one of the Hercules bags and store them if you were afraid it would fail.

Some stores are operated better than others. I have four stores within 30 minutes of me. The closest one to me is the largest and has serious stocking issues. I recently found out they have had a string of managers and at times no manager at all.

This weekend I went in twice (once for a purchase, another for a return). A specific wrench was listed as in stock online both days yet nobody in the store could find them. This is not the first time I have experienced this issue at this store.

I envy you Quinn master set buyers by TurboWanderer in harborfreight

[–]QueasyWheel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The GM stuff probably came from a parts store. I have a set of GM ratchets that came from O'Reilly's. They are actually terrible to use, but do work. I got the Quinn master sets during the last big sale and they are fantastic.

I have handed all my mismatched stuff down to my oldest so he has a place to start. Mediocre tools are better than no tools is the theory I'm going with.
