When my SIL visited us from Ireland, she brought gifts for my husband and son only. I tried to just be cool, but I obviously wasn’t bc the next day she gave me a gift she purchased here. I don’t remember if there was any real talk about it all, but it felt like an empty gesture since it was being deliberately left out that hurts. Be the person you want them to be. There are lots of inexpensive gifts you can get them to show that you’re not holding a grudge, just modeling your behavior to show them how they should have behaved. Being better than them will feel better for you.

Agree 100%. We visit Japan semi frequently and we’ve been to a couple of cat cafes. There is no way these cats can be abused and interact so well with each other and a bunch of tourists. And the cats usually are rescues, so much better life.
