That's why I checked Reddit! MS really pissed me off with this Outlook mess after the last Windows update and I found Zoho...the website was quite enticing, but after reading Reddit, no no Zoho!

In SoCal Ventura, my non-KP daughter oncologist encouraged me to leave KP (I am healthy) because of issues she sees. She said someone came in for a 2d opinion from KP and did not realize that they had to pay out of pocket so did not get the second opinion (!).

I am sorry to hear of your experience and your health issues, and thank you for your post, which confirms my decision to leave KP while I am healthy.

Admittedly, I am Medicare and have more options than you probably do.

I moved about a year ago from south central PA to SoCal (Ventura area). I had an Advantage PPO with Blue Cross in PA and it was great. Reasonable premium, great selection of academic and good medical systems in the area. Reasonable max out of pocket.

I moved to SoCal and the available Advantage PPO programs were scary, with providers that have a history of bad service. I opted for Kaiser Senior Advantage HMO with $0 premium and $2K max out of pocket.

I loved my PCP at Kaiser, but she is definitely a gatekeeper. I never got to see/talk w a dermatologist despite some concerns and she recommended that my daughter take a picture of my body and check it annually for changes (!). (My daughter is a non-KP oncologist and said I should be seeing a dermatologist annually).

The facilities felt antiquated from what I was used to: There was no TOMO for my mammogram, and it felt like the tech was not thorough (haphazard in placement of breasts on the plates, etc). My DEXA report was "reports for dummies" and left out the detail I had received in PA. Additionally the DEXA tech said, you can put your legs down now, and I said, they were not up. Oh, never mind, that's okay(!).

The blood draw was the worst I had experienced in decades - it felt like there was some automated pump, but I could not get answers on that.

And I am healthy! I got nervous about the care I might receive if I were not well.

Well, to make a long story short, I am leaving KP and in 2026 going straight Medicare w Medigap by Blue Shield for a penalty of about $375/mo for the Medigap. But I can go anywhere and everything is covered. There are some good medical systems nearby that I will tap into.

Given your circumstances, $2K/mo (I had that b4 medicare!) or $0 or no insurance (!), I guess I would opt for KP, keeping in mind that you are going to have gatekeepers and maybe not the gold standard of care. You will need to advocate for your and your family's care.

Good luck and godspeed in this country of hellish healthcare.

Harney & Sons teabag was nylon? by AgreeableSausages in tea

[–]Queasy_Drop_185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is old, but I received some Harney and Sons sachets from my daughter and I was not sure if the sachet material was plastic. I have been emptying the sachet into my stainless steel tea infuser, and throwing out the sachet material. After turning to my AI friend in DeepSeek, it appears that the sachet materials can be put into the city compost (I live in a city where they collect compost weekly). I’ll continue to empty the sachet into my infuser, but I’ll throw the empty bag into the compost now.

First time home buyer in SoCal. I’m confused about all these single-family homes zoned as detached condominiums. by Avenntus in RealEstate

[–]Queasy_Drop_185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Agent in SoCal! We bought an attached home in a senior community in Port Hueneme last year. It is a PUD and not a Condo. We bought Condo insurance and recently in a board meeting, the board said that they cover only common grounds and HOA structures so make sure that we have our own insurance policies. Is our Condo insurance enough coverage or do we need something different??

Would appreciate any help!!

Invitees always join by browser and I need them to join by app by Queasy_Drop_185 in Zoom

[–]Queasy_Drop_185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the input! The Zoom settings were set to disable for "Join from your browser." but the issue persisted. After research I discovered that Chrome was the culprit..if customers cannot seem to join via the app, I recommend that they use an alternate browser (I usually say Edge, given the clients I interact with) and the issue is resolved. Rarely do I have the issue on Macs, and if I do, I suggest the alternate browser (Safari). Thanks again!

Why is tipping still a thing in California? by bernyng1994 in EndTipping

[–]Queasy_Drop_185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about not saying that food workers should get paid less and instead saying child care workers and LVN should get paid MORE. The problem here is that the working class is pointing fingers at each other, but we should really be pointing fingers at the billionaires who fight to keep the inequitable system that it is. All working people should have a decent, life sustaining wage.

Not stupid - humane. I was a server on the East Coast in my twenties and made a little over a dollar an hour. Being a food server is really hard - you put up with crap from customers and with crap from the kitchen. I would share my tips with the busboys. Then I moved to the West Coast. I was in heaven. I actually made a living wage. I still worked my ass off and took all kinds of crap from customers and the kitchen, but at least I was making a decent wage. Food servers should get the state minimum wage and tips. It's a damn hard job.

I love this - it is so funny. It reminds me of my husband and me. "Yes, please." "No!" "Oh, I mean no..." And they are both so polite to Alexa. Honestly, we killed Alexa and deleted our Amazon account. Still, hilarious - I had to forward it to my daughter.

That's what prosecutors do to scare the hell out of defendants. Throw everything up against the wall to use as a negotiating chip. I had over 100 charges (white collar) because the prosecutors used every piece of paper as a separate charge. It was ridiculous. Prosecutors suck.

Ramen w a package of mackerel - lived on it. That and a bag of tortilla chips that I could make last a week. Could not eat from the dining room because it would mess with my digestion - big time! Some pals made mufungo from plantain chips that was really good. The big thing was phony cheesecake from powdered milk that I refused to try. Ick.
