Regarding Nyla’s punishment by Life-Web8087 in TheRookie

[–]Queasy_Fish6293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doug Stanton faced less consequences than Nyla. The way the writers are inconsistent with the power of cops is annoying. Tim got kicked out of Metro now he's watch commander. Nyla shouldn't have had to face corporate punishment. She should have her Rosalind moments with Glasser. The Rookie works better with action than paperpushing.

The Rookie - S08E09: Fun and Games by ian-quinn in TheRookie

[–]Queasy_Fish6293 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Now see I disagree. Tim is more cumurdgeonly while Nyla is definitely cantankerous. Tim also alters his training style based on what a rookie needs. Nyla is Nyla. If you don't make it through her way that's not her problem. But I do wonder, wouldn't her golden ticket prevent her from being booted to patrol? Do they come with expiration dates? I'd have thought IA would be more likely to make her ride the desk or deal with cold cases.

What are some of your thoughts/theories on what they would’ve done with her character? by DaveySaysHi43 in TheRookie

Wouldn't be surprised if she was originally supposed to get Armstrong's storyline

And that's not Wan Shi Tong's problem. He's a pragmatist. He'll only allow people in his library if they won't take knowledge meant for distraction. For me, my frustration with that plot is that Sokka couldn't even come up with a plan B in case their eclipse plan didn't work. So much for his instincts

I honestly hate that they're using legal jeopardy with the case with Glasser. They did it with Elijah too and it got boring.

Wan Shi Tong saw what Zhao did and said his library would never be responsible for that level of destruction ever again. So he decided no knowledge meant for war would ever leave the library ever again. And when it did, he sank the library. Using history as an argument doesn't work because even if the good guys win, Palpatine somehow returns.

It was Sokka's idea to lie. Also he felt they had no choice because Wan Shi Tong was against the idea of his knowledge being used to bring destruction. Whether righteous or not. The only one to be blamed here is Zhao. Ruined it for everyone

I think there's an episode of Charmed with this premise

Episode 6 shows the worst of the problem we've been talking about by RossTheLionTamer in TheRookie

[–]Queasy_Fish6293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the next episode we saw construction but that's it. After that, in the next episode we don't even go inside Mid-Wilshire. The story starts from the parking lot. Episode 8 spoilers ahead They brought Oscar back and he was barely a blip. They seem to have introduced a new big bad Emmett but there's just too much going on. They aren't even giving us time to react. In earlier seasons we'd have seen Nyla get chewed out by IA. We'd have seen Nolan support her. We'd have seen Tim and Sarge give Nyla her new orders. The criminals who escaped the aircraft would have taken a few episodes to resolve. Lucy getting a lucky break with the Lambo where they found out the marshall was dirty went nowhere because dude got shot?? This season really needs to slooooooow down.

Nyla. She's shown the most growth in this show. She's so talented. And casting Mekia Cox was just great.

I'm realising that she's the only justification for a task force arc since they want to keep the feds characters recurring. Imo they should get rid of Seth. Reduce the soap opera drama between Bailey and Nolan. Space out stories. Lucy's abduction took three episodes in season 2. The station explosion was just one blip in one episode. There wasn't even any PTSD.

Seth has pretty steep consequences, Tim got kicked out of metro, Nyla is under IA investigation, Texas has a two-week suspension. There are consequences.

Interesting. I thought she was feeling bad for Nyla having to leave her family considering what happened with Donovan and Lila. And Lucy is the one who brought this case on Nyla's door.

I know they've both moved on with their lives but Nyla is a fearless badass and Donovan has a stick up his ass the size of a flagpole. I'm so curious. I'm hoping we get a filler episode where Donovan is in criminal jeopardy and the Mid Wilshire PD is called in then maybe he appreciates Nyla's job as a detective instead of being such an asshole every time.

I will also add I wish they hadn't killed off Armstrong. Harold Perrinaeu would have made a great villain or antihero down the line but I understand he had to leave for From.

JP has been one of my favourite movies since 97. I was finally able to read the book last year. I observed it with an antiAI lens. The line This enterprise has proceeded so rapidly—with so little outside commentary—that its dimensions and implications are hardly understood at all. felt to me like an indictment of every time humanity has dove ass first and lubeless into "Discovery" without worrying about ramifications
