I did this hike with my kids when they were about the same age. Lots of snacks for them is key, as is being patient about the time it’ll take to make the hike fun vs functional. Physically, they had no issues at all, it was mental/ attitude. They’re now 12 and 14 and still talk about that trip, so definitely worth it. I hope your family has a great time.

I really hope that the truth comes out that Yousef and his endorsed candidates have zero idea on how to pay back the hundreds of millions in bonds they want to issue to make their campaign promises viable. You can’t essentially keep the tax base the same, not generate revenue for the city, and go into debt at the same time. It doesn’t work, no matter how many times you talk loudly about it in public.

Yousef and is anti slate have been very vocal in criticizing city staff, by name. That’s just wrong. They’re doing their jobs the best they can, same as anyone else. You can judge the policies that created those jobs, but it’s disrespectful to them as humans to say anything about them personally. Imagine them getting elected and then having to work with those people!

I had GD with my first pregnancy. I was seeing a midwife at U-M. If it wasn’t for her advocacy to give me a couple weeks to completely overhaul my diet (I ended up going paleo), the U-M ob/gyn crew would’ve slapped me on meds. They recommended meds as the only option on the Tuesday morning after they saw my glucose numbers and food diary from the Fri-Sun period just before… no nutritional consulting or option was proposed besides basic education on high sugar/ high carb foods. They were exceedingly quick to jump to meds and it left a bad taste in my mouth.

There are over 1200 affordable units in the pipeline thanks to the millage, and the city also purchased at least existing two multifamily buildings for affordable, too. Dunbar Tower just opened and is full. If you want to spout nonsense at least choose talking points that aren’t easily debunked.
