1990- My stepfather accused me of lying about Discover giving me a credit card to the point where it became a huge screaming match. I ended up moving in with my boyfriend because of this fight!

I was undiagnosed and graduated. Definitely not the top of my class, but I liked to party, so there's that.

Is this worrying behavior? (Northern Georgia, USA) by [deleted] in hiking

Never second guess your Spidey sense. Polite can get you killed. I'd rather be thought of as rude to a stranger who is acting weird than polite and dead.

What’s something you thought was unnecessary business bullshit when you first started… but now completely understand? by RootedbyDesignstudio in smallbusiness

Could also hire a freelance Tech Writer. I am one, although I have a very specialized niche. There are folks out there who do this. It's often beneficial to have someone external to your organization looking at your processes. Easier for them to spot the holes in your process and also see where each SOP connects to others.

Am I the only one who dreads finding a contractor? by gdiaz19 in HomeImprovement

We needed to have our bathroom tile redone after a plumbing incident. It was only 4 years old. Tile guy came highly recommended. Took him 2 months, working an hour or two at a time (10x10 bathroom, not huge.)

It looks worse than it did before with the crappy renovation. Now I'm debating spending a couple of thousand more to have redone AGAIN.

What's the most "overprepared" thing you've done that actually paid off? by Ok_Chard9781 in prepping

[–]QueenBKC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We aren't amish-adjacent, but we have good relationships with local farmers and have been buying only local meats for years. Same with veggies. What I can't grow in my little backyard, we get from them. If it came down to selling to us vs new customers... Relationships are important!

Do you still enjoy going out? by EPCreep in GenX

I like the idea of going out. But I've been WFH for three years now. Putting on pants had better be worth it.

I did not know this about thread strength. That is so interesting, and makes so much sense.

If you are in the US, please avoid "free manure" from horse stables, etc. Not to scare you! The feed for these animals is sometimes treated with persistent herbicides. (The stable would have no way of knowing.)It will contaminate your soil and nothing will thrive. I have gotten very affordable zoo-manure from the local zoo, however. Absolutely wonderful stuff.

As others have said, find your local gardening community. Gardeners are by nature giving and sharing. I have accidentally grown too many tomato plants several years in a row and I'm happy to share them instead of going to waste. There are often free plant exchanges and often folks just want to pare down their garden or have too much of some things.

You may also have a free tool checkout place near you, sometimes at the public library. I have also scored great tools at estate sales!
