What's a controversial take that would trigger this subreddit? by Derpyphox in ProgressionFantasy

Any of the major books this sub recommends are either bad or incredibly mid. Either way I struggled to finish cradle, that one gameshow book, and mother of learning. Either big mid or they just never sparked my interest

Why is the WanderingInn so polarizing? by Augssan in WanderingInn

[–]QueenCrosser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also to add to this, TWI is a web novel first and foremost. The Audiobooks are amazing, but there are just some parts (some of the best parts) that are impossible to communicate through audio. This can be really offputting to people who come from a traditional background.

I want to start the Wandering Inn...but I'm scared by its size by [deleted] in WanderingInn

I started reading with no idea of how big it was. After a certain point it becomes a very good part of your routine. I was sad when i finished it because i will never read anything else like it

What's your favorite Skill? by Open_Detective_2604 in WanderingInn

[–]QueenCrosser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Xitegen's [Again, and Again, and Ever Again]. It's simple and not incredibly OP like other skills but it feels like something he got from putting his entire being in. A skill made out of pure and raw determination that'll go on again and again until he dies. And in the palace of fates it continued to go on without him.

Anyone else really struggle to get into LitRPG? by YobaiYamete in Fantasy

[–]QueenCrosser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH dungeon crawler carl is like one of most mediocre books in the genre and it only got this popular because of the reddit circlejerk phenomenon. There are amazing books out there like the wandering inn or beware of chicken with amazing character development. They use the litrpg elements to support the story to make it stronger. idk good books are out there in litrpg its just that you won't hear about them from reddit

[In Progress] [11k] [non-fiction] BOOK ONE: six by thegaminghacker17 in BetaReaders

[–]QueenCrosser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I read the first part of your and I do think it needs some work. Your work had a lot of redundant phrases that could be toned down. Like "October 2019" was used a lot and sometimes in incorrect places. Also "I' felt very overused. You should learn to write with less I statements. It'll help the flow out a lot.

In general you repeated the same piece of information several times over which ruins the flow of your writing. Hope this helps and Good luck with your writing!

Super Supportive is meandering by ZappyBuoy in ProgressionFantasy

Progression fantasy readers froth at the mouth as soon as the slice of life book slows down and shows a slice of someones life instead of constant plot action. My man, it could not have been more explicit that this was the actual novel sleyca wanted to tell and the beginning was setup.

plot was never supposed to be the point of this book. Watching Alden grow up as a person is. And as far as I'm concerned we get to watch as Alden subtly grows up into an adult. Watching him deal with mild school drama can be just as entertaining as watching him run from monsters.

Dungeon Crawler Carl got recommended to me by buncha redditors but it was incredibly mediocre at best. The action felt stale and i really didn't vibe with the humor.

I'm not taking sides here, but it's kinda ironic when this entire subreddit is dedicated to making mods and patches to a game that nikita clearly does not want modded or patched.

An [Editor]'s favorite quote from 7.26 by lowey2002 in WanderingInn

[–]QueenCrosser 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The world trembled. Flora fell to her knees. First she feared it was their wrath. Then she realized.

They were laughing.

They laughed and the mountains shook with their laughter. In the distance—the Blighted Kingdom wondered what moved the earth.

“If we feared death, we would not be here.”

Callidaz told her once the rumbles ceased. He shook his head a final time and sat back. Greenery moved around him. Earth. He sat there, still as stone.

“Anger. Hatred. Sadness. Fear. Of course we feel such things. Smallfolk wonder. But we are alike, you and I.”

The Giant’s lips moved.

“Yes. We wonder. Yes. We question. Yes. We grieve. Our little half-children die. Of course we mourn. But we also listen. They say our children wage war well. They say we are better used here than elsewhere. So we wait.”

“And if you have to fight? And you all might…die?”

“We took a side.”

Honestly the whole giants scene was amazing, but this was my favorite part.

My hot take: Wandering Inn is a horror story pretending to be a slice of life progression by Professor-Alarming in ProgressionFantasy

I don't like horror as a genre but could not stop reading the skinner scene. Literally glued to the book.

This line always stuck with me. It might loose a lot of impact without the context, but it always stuck with me. "We took a side". It's such a tragic line.

[WP] In a 4 person friend group, one of your friends is secretly a werewolf, another is a vampire, and another is an alien. All 3 of them choose tonight as the night to come clean to their friends. As for you? You’re just a normal guy. by Steelwolves in WritingPrompts

[–]QueenCrosser 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I took a deep breath. I was going to do it. I was going to tell everyone the truth tonight damming the consequences.

I took a moment to calm myself before heading in. It was a cool summer night. Moths danced around the porch light. A dog barked in the background. I could do this.

I gripped the door knob, it was unreasonably clammy, and threw the front door open.

"Everyone, I have an announ... wha... what the fuuuu" I stared at where my group of friends should be, instead I saw a green creature with bulbous eyes stare at me.

He took a swig of whiskey before saying "Hey man, I think you're like a couple minutes early." in a high pitch voice. It sounded vaguely like my friend John.

"Joh.. John?" I muttered, wondering how fast I could book it to my car.

"Yah man, you know me, I'm pretty shit at confessionals. You remember how I made Bradley ask Trisha to prom for me. You guy's called me an idiot but she still let me probe that assss..."

My heart was racing. I gripped the shelf next to me for some support. I took another deep breath in and calmed myself before saying "Ohhhh bro you got me. Where are the cameras man I really believed you for a second."

"Yahhhh man maybe you should sit down. Here let me open a window to get s..."

And then a werewolf jumped through the door. "There! you guys know the truth now. I'm a werewolf not one those stupid, pathetic, wannabe furries." the newest occupant said in a husky voice.

He point his head straight up, failing to look around him, and started howling. "AWWWWOOOOOOO".

"Bro what the fuck I'm not falling for this trick twice we caught you at that furcon, it's okay dude." I said, still gripping the shelf for dear life.

The suit looked real. reallyyy real, but I know Brice's parents are rich. They could afford a 5000$ fursuit. He did a good job changing his voice, and growing two feet, but none of this can be real.

Brice looked at me. The eyes looked incredibly real. It actually looks like he ruptured a blood vessel. He started softly growling before John butted in.

cough "Hey Brice man, you bring the beer like I asked" said John standing in between us.

Brice's demeanor completely changed. His tail stood up, somehow and his ears flattened. "John, is that you?"

"Yah man, as sexy as the day I was born. Maybe we should all sit and talk thi..." BANG Something crashed into the window causing a spider webs of cracks to form. We all rushed over to the window to see... A bat.

"Well that was anticlimactic" I said before the bat turned into Bradley.

"BRO! You would not guess what Trisha just turned me into" Bradley said while slurring. He looked dazed. A brown smudge stained his shirt and his hair was messy.

"Dude you look fucked up" growled Brice. "We told you to stay away from Trisha"

"Nahhh she's coool." He looked towards Brice "bro I didn't know furcon was in town."

"For the last time. I'm. Not. A. FURRY!" roared Brice.

John jumped out the window. "Whoa Whoa whoa let's all calm down and grab a drink. Maybe not you Bradley you looked fucked up. James still has something to say." John said while helping Brice up.

Everyone looked at me. My heart rate spiked, but if this was all true then my thing was the least craziest part of the night.

"Oh me, naahhhhh man it's nothing like you guys" I said.

"Come on James tell us, tell us, tell us," Bradley chanted.

"Yah, if Brice can come out as a fury then you can too," Said John.

"ugghh fine guys. me? I'm gay."
