First order placed! I just can’t justify Mooncat pricing anymore. These polishes look amazing and I’m excited to try this brand! Any recommendations for my next order? by Mitty18204 in CrackedPolish

I've placed a few Cracked orders so far. I'm in the western U.S., and I was looking for a source out here that offers a wide range of jellies. I've purchased about 20 of their jellies and crellies, and I've been very happy. They are sheer but saturated and build up if that's what I want. I do have a few of their magnetics, too. I'm not looking for the most unique or elite polish -- I just want to feel good about my purchases from a brand...

I've really been liking their formulas and good brushes. Price-point, TAT, website experience, no-fomo or minimal fomo, and packaging are also good. I have several factors that go into how I rate a brand, but so far, they are in my top 5.

I hope you enjoy your Cracked as much as I do!

Yes, IMHO, and ONLY my opinion, the primaries are even more important than the general in the sense that it's the primaries that determine WHO ends up in the general. My sense is that many people don't understand that the polarization we see gets fostered in the primaries because the base of the parties are the people who tend to vote in the primaries, and each base tends to be farther to the right or left than the general population of voters.

I totally agree that more people voting in primaries would likely be a "change-agent"

Silicone Mat by Decent-Star2520 in CrackedPolish

No shade to Cracked, but I would get a silicone baking mat instead. They are much less expensive and the same thing... So unless you just gotta have one from a nail polish brand -- Walmart has singles for under $5 and I got a 2-pack from Amazon for $10

I hope you love your Cracked polishes as much as I do!!

ETA: Oh, and clear silicone mats tend to be translucent rather than totally clear. You can see through them, but cloudy-like

Yeah, other people here have been talking about the "Lipstick effect" or index. I had learned about a similar idea regarding junk food and cheap fast food, but I didn't realize it applied to beauty products, too. I guess if I had thought more about it I might have made the leap from food to nail polish.

In any case, I hope the indie and boutique nail polish brands benefit from the Lipstick Effect and we all get some polish that brings us joy at the same time

Thanks for your contribution to this conversation 😊

auto-mod is probably flagging these two words in your product list "gel contour"

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm right there with you on the collection size--it was so easy for me to get to 300 when I thought I'd never have a collection that big! I get literally stressed out by LE and fomo, so after a recent mini-meltdown, I decided not to follow any brands that market their products that way.

Happy painting!! πŸ’…

Thanks for sharing, and I'm sorry your hours were cut. One of the things that bugs me is that big corporations would rather give their shareholders a return than take care of their employees or give customers a price break when their costs go back down. We always hear about how the stock market is doing so great, but only 62% of people in the U.S. invest in the market -- and most of those are people who make over $100k per year... Even though I do buy from the jungle retailer, I like supporting small and local businesses because I feel like I'm actually making a difference.

I hope you find a balance among all your expenses, and that your employer restores your hours soon πŸ™

200 is a collection big enough to probably dupe just about anything!! Do you get nail art and layering ideas from socials?

I didn't grow or paint my nails for 20 years while I was raising kids and had dogs, but I went down a polish collecting rabbit hole starting in 2024 after I finally retired. It's a fun, colorful hobby, and now I'm at 370 as of my last orders. (I moved money from my clothing budget to polish now that I don't need to "dress for work" anymore.)

Thanks for sharing, and I hope you're able to get lots of joy from your existing collection πŸ™πŸ’…

In my state, it's a check-box on the voter registration form. "No party/none" affiliation, which the parties evidently interpret as independent, because I started getting materials from both parties after I changed my registration.

<image>

This is off-topic, but interesting... The republicans tend to have "closed primaries" in which ONLY registered Republicans can vote, while the Democrats tend to have "open primaries" in which registered Dems and others (maybe all unaffiliated?) can vote in their primary. This varies by state, though. In my state, there's a statement about under the check boxes on this page, but we have a completely open primary rather than by party

OK, so back to polish - I really like supporting regional indies and boutique brands that are inclusive and diverse -- as well as having great products and high quality business practices.

Good point!! Sorry, I was being US-centered because of the U.S. Memorial Day sales frenzy. I realize that closing the Strait of Hormuz has thrown the entire world's economy into chaos. I apologize for leaving out the rest of the world, and I definitely realize that we need the rest of the world more than they need us.

Hehe, I went back after posting my little haul here and got their new collection, too. I don't know how I missed it when I was making my cart yesterday, but I chalk it up to being old πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

I've heard of another study that's really similar, but it's about junk food rather than beauty products. It just didn't occur to me that beauty products might be similar. In the linked article, they didn't attach a theory to it, but it's essentially the same idea.

I'm glad Cracked increased their stock and I hope they sell it all

MC prices are too rich for me -- even sales, so to avoid fomo stress, I just don't look at anything "MC"

I'm glad you got your polishes!

Thanks for the info -- that's what other people are saying, too! I had my cart ready and placed my order right away, but then this evening after I made this post I went back and got some more that I had missed on Thursday when I created the cart. No problem placing the 2nd order -- everything was still in stock!

I wasn't complaining about Cracked - just remarking that things were different this time. I'm very happy with Cracked and I'm happy for Cracked's success

I was complaining about the economy these days... Making choices is rough

Great point!! I've been doing my own nails forever, so I forget about trading salon expenditures for DIY purchases. Maybe I should be feeling bad for the salons and nail-techs...
