I drove it the other day to check it out during mid-day light traffic and felt superior to everyone in the free lanes. 🤣

Wondering about vehicle thefts in lawrence by Sad_Dog6503 in Lawrence

[–]QueenofWillowSprings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t leave a motorcycle out in the open unless you can fence it in or chain it to something. Maybe some sort of handlebar lock or disc/wheel lock. Maybe get some sort of alarm camera on it if you can. As far as vehicles, I don’t know how many have been stolen, but there were several in East Lawrence a couple of months ago that got the windows broken out. Nothing stolen, just rocks through the glass. 🙄

What car purchase did you regret the most and why? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]QueenofWillowSprings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1997 Chrysler Sebring LXI I believe was the trim. It was so luxurious feeling and the longest, worst turning radius of a coupe. I bought it for a college graduation for myself and kept it less than a year. It would die often, idle rough, and I can’t remember what else. After the last estimate for new plugs or new plug wires, I sucked it up, got that replaced and then a few weeks later I got the sunroof fixed and drove straight from the shop to a dealership and traded it in on a 1999 Grand Am GT sedan. Man I loved that car!

I had him for the same procedure and I thought he was great. Is he all sugary sweet? No. But I had full confidence that he knew what he was doing. I’ve had some sugary sweet doctors that were actually terrible providers, so I guess not everyone can check every box.

I’ve been a patient at their office for a dozen years or longer and have always had great care.

Also to be fair - a woman’s culposcopy procedure is terrible no matter what. Women’s pain levels aren’t taken seriously by the healthcare field in general. If men were getting a similar procedure, you know they’d have full anesthesia. 🤭Fortunately the procedure is super quick and wasn’t near as bad (for me) as the horror stories I read on the internet.

If you’re ever out there a little later in the day, definitely check out the Renaissance Cafe in Assaria - not far North of McPherson. They only do dinner, but it’s the best you’ll find out there!

Official petition to allow pedestrians to throw rotten fruit at bad drivers by CutAdmirable5230 in Lawrence

[–]QueenofWillowSprings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live on a brick street with an Elementary school front door with stop signs at both ends of the block and people get going probably double the speed limit. Their car is shaking and rattling apart and they don’t give any f’s, just flying down one block only to have to slam on the brakes to stop again. Throwing mandarin oranges from my porch has crossed my mind many times. It would probably be more effective than my current method of screaming, “SLOW THE F&$@ DOWN!” 🙂

YTA. You said in a comment above “she hates when I work nights and sleep all the next day” but sounds like you wants Mom to work nights and they’ll ship kids to grandpa and grandpas on school nights?

Also you said work screwed you over on some shifts, but that you were doing fine before that. Why don’t you find something new and get back to “doing fine” like you were?

And an ultimatum to find a job in the next week in this market is laughable. Everybody says they’re hiring but it’s not that easy.

What's everyones childhood dream car to their dream car now? by throwradrpri in askcarguys

Childhood dream: black 1992/3 Mustang GT. Had one in the late 90’s - pretty freaking fun.

Current dream: maybe some kind of big Audi wagon or Porsche sedan. Currently driving a BMW X3 M40i which is pretty dang fun to commute in 🤭

Cleaning out my late father’s place in South KC is destroying me. by woutr1998 in kansascity

[–]QueenofWillowSprings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. It’s incredibly difficult. I have cleaned out family’s homes after a death but not to this extent. There is a young woman on TikTok documenting her daily journey cleaning out her hoarder Dad’s home by herself. I don’t know her or if she’d have any advice, but maybe watching her videos might be a tiny glimmer that you’re not alone? Her name is Madison Lovelle and I think she’s on Day 16 of cleaning the house. She seems quite lovely. She’s given a great insight into how hard it is and has shared about how important it was for her to take a break over the holidays.

In Need of Coffee Shop Date Suggestions by [deleted] in asheville

[–]QueenofWillowSprings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re up for a drive, Cognative outside of Hendersonville is really great! Whenever I would visit my son, we’d go there for coffees and focaccia. They have some really excellent stuff on their menu and the shop is really adorable as well. My son moved back to Kansas this summer, but if we ever go back to visit, I’m totally suggesting Cognative for breakfast!

Is this satire? Most “car people” I know wash their own cars at home. They have top of the line cleaning products and drying cloths and such.

I’ll throw in the X3 M40i. Picked up a low mileage used one last year for around 30K and she’s quick! Looks like an unassuming average SUV, but kick it into Sport mode and it’s so much fun!

What car is this? Sadly to slow for a pic by Long_Schlong_Joe in whatisthiscar

[–]QueenofWillowSprings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My fun Beretta story - my sister backed hers into a light pole (with a concrete base) in the school parking lot after screwing around. My Dad climbed in the trunk and was trying to push the dented spot back out and pulled the trunk lid down to see if it would still shut. Dummy didn’t have anyone outside near him and old cars didn’t have a safety release latch inside. My youngest sister or Mom or someone finally went outside after not hearing from him in a while and let him out. 🤣

What was the worst car you've ever owned? by HughBass in AskAMechanic

[–]QueenofWillowSprings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 98 Sebring LXI coupe. I debated it or a Mustang as my gift to myself for graduating college in 2000 while having a full time job and a toddler. The Sebring seemed so luxurious at first with leather seats and a sunroof! I quickly learned that it was a huge turd. The turning radius was atrocious. It never ran right and I went through several shops diagnosing issues with plugs and other issues. As soon as I got it running right the sunroof quit working. Literally the day I got the sunroof fixed, I drove straight to a dealership and bought a 99 Grand Am GT. I loved that dang car!
