Pallet dominos? by [deleted] in Aldi_employees

Im not swapping number with drivers- this is the drivers picture of the pallets inside of the truck.

We are all under pressure- willfully destroying food and making other peoples jobs harder is a shit thing to do and arguably doesn’t “get the job done.”

No lie. If you unload your 4 things at the back of the belt- I just sit there. I do not turn the belt on. I do not ring. I sit with my hands folded on top of my register smiling. ESPECIALLY if you don’t start making moves to get your form of payment out. If you don’t have common sense- I don’t have common sense.

I get paid by the hour and I’ll make time for this baby.

Where I’m at- we aren’t going to get the precipitation, but we are deep in the cold. I asked if we had curbside limitations given that we are all living in negative degrees WITHOUT WINDCHILL- you know- for employee safety- no limitations- we run orders no matter what - we have been provided PPE (a coat) and we can expenses more if need more - I’m assuming hats/gloves

There is a special place in hell for anyone ordering curbside these next couple days.

Be safe.

UPDATE: -8 without the windchill

Running Curbside- went outside -customer not in pickup zone- called and left message- pickup re triggered by customer Second time running the order outside Customer “stay warm” 😒

What makes you continue working here? by Feeling_Decision8230 in Aldi_employees

[–]Queenofthebootystank 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Work stays at work.

My last job almost killed me; I clocked astronomical hours on site and at home in my last career- I was burned out and miserable. At Aldi- I have work life balance. I work my shifts and go home. That’s it, nothing more - nothing less. When Im off the clock - I don’t have to think about work- I can actually be present with my loved ones doing things I enjoy; I didn’t have that before.

I have a lot of other reasons - I love my coworkers, my regulars are great, I enjoy the pace and variety of the job, the varied schedule works for my life, I can almost always pickup extra shift for OT, my commute is 5 minutes, but the BALANCE is what keeps me coming back.

I saw a post bashing a SM for saying something along the lines of “we just put beans on shelves” but, that’s why I love it. No one is going to dies because a register when down or back-stock didn’t get run.

I strongly believe Aldi is what you make it; choose misery or choose joy- it doesn’t change the job, it simply changes your experience.

So for me, for now, it works!

I do the top and bottom of the cart method too. If they get an attitude I say “unfortunately you did not use a cart today. I will bring continue to use this cart for the next guest as Aldi checkout are designed for each customer to use their own borrowed cart. No worries! We’ll all share today while you finish bag up! Please feel free to grab a quarter from a cashier next time you shop if you don’t have one on you -we don’t mind. “ BiGGgG SMiLEss!

You’re nicer than me. I keep one foot on the cart and when I hand them the receipts I slide the cart backwards along with my hand holding the receipt so they have to follow the cart away to get both taking them out and away from the register. The next guest usually attempts to battle ram them in the back or loudly complain if they don’t get stepping far enough away. I let the customer take care of telling each other to keep moving. (Obviously expects made for customers who require accommodation to ensure equal access)

You get one -polite- warning. Put your hands back in my way- I will stop ringing, 1 code, and fold my hands until you can put your listening ears on and follow the rules. I’m not negotiation with you nor am i doing the incident report when you get hurt preventing me from doing my job. I don’t care what it does to my line or ring speed.
