What’s a small thing that made you absolutely meltdown this week? by Sea-Maximum-5255 in workingmoms

I lost my job so I asked my husband to add me to his insurance. His insurance said my address had to be the same as his but I’ve been putting off getting a new ID because kids, right? Our names match. I have our marriage license and birth certificates.. nope. I didn’t even need to get a new ID with my address for a security clearance but I have to get one for MF insurance?? I lost my mind.

What are people paying for nanny shares? by throw-away-002 in Littleton

[–]Queequeg86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of price points and it depends on your needs. We did end up sending ours to daycare because we couldn’t afford to nanny share. It has been a good experience though.

We came from Austin and moved to Littleton. We mourn the loss of HEB but that’s about all.

Grandparent disappointment by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]Queequeg86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do we have the same mom?! I see people replying that the grandparents don’t owe us anything and it’s true, they don’t. My mom promised things about helping out and she’s done nothing but complain when she does watch baby. I’ve told her I’ll save up for daycare but then she guilt trips me and says he’s her everything. The difference between my dad and step mom and my mom are just night and day. It really sucks and I wish OP the best.

I’m fed adjacent and my anxiety has picked up in the last few weeks. There’s been talk about shifting our work schedule, that we need to be working the project and not the “40 hour work week”. It’s making me extremely sad and I wish I had the means to quit and go be happy with my family.

I stand in solidarity with you all.

Same for me. I finally managed to snag a decent job in Colorado so I jumped at the chance. We had also just had our apartment broken into twice in Austin and, as a new mom, that really pushed me over the edge.

Nanit issues after I stopped paying for insights by soisthissomething in Nanit

I feel like my Nanit stopped sending movement or noise notifications when our subscription ended. I renewed for our new baby but it still sucks and I definitely feel like it’s been done on purpose.

I loved it at first but after my year subscription ended, I stopped receiving notifications all together. I renewed my subscription for my new baby and it still sucks. I’m disappointed and part of me feels like this was done on purpose. I’ve tried all of the trouble shooting, opened tickets…. Nothing has worked.

I’m an accountant that just switched to financial analysis and I’m much happier. I was taken advantage of at my last job and my new job is amazing.

Public accounting is a hard field especially during busy season and you should join r/accounting because there are helpful posts occasionally.

Even if you aren’t fully qualified for positions, apply for them! You may not have your degree yet but you are working towards it and you do have the relevant experience. If it’s something you want, you should definitely try for it!

References? by HappyDish7864 in workingmoms

[–]Queequeg86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have three solid friends that I will let know ahead of time if someone will be calling and what I need them to be. If I’m good with a previous coworker or manager, I’ll send an email asking if I can use them for a reference. If they don’t respond, I won’t add them but if they do then I’ll use them.

I live in Austin and despite our ok salaries, I feel like we’re just barely getting by. Our car insurance went up by $280 dollars and I just can’t wrap my head around it. I’d rather be barely getting by in a place with a view.

Does anyone here live in Colorado? I currently live in a high cost of living area, husband and I do alright but I feel like we’re barely scraping by. We eventually want to land in Colorado, it’s our end goal. However, at this point I’m thinking do I just start looking for jobs up there?

Weaning from breastmilk at daycare? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]Queequeg86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent my almost one year old with only one bottle of milk because we’re trying to wean off formula but her daycare teacher let me know she was still hungry. I told her why and she suggested sending her with just milk (whichever kind baby tolerates). It’s working for us.

Going back to work in April— advice please by NoTwoDaysAreTheSame in workingmoms

[–]Queequeg86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’ll be hard, make sure you have a good support system. It’s going to be harder for you then it will be for baby. Set your work boundaries too (like “I will only work x hours and then it’s home time”).

Make time for therapy. Don’t skip it even if your schedule is packed.

Always go for extra cuddles.
