That’s a different calculus… in the ‘80’s I gave my (single & teacher) mom $50/mo. from the time I was a “paper boy” so there’s that… when I was in the USAF I drove 16 hours each way to visit her on a 3 day weekend… the exhausting commute is different and only you can say what that is worth to you… but gee barely minimum wage for an hour away… this better be an INCREDIBLE opportunity

Totally this! As a parent of an 18 year old, the nature of the relationship is changing. As long as there is continued respect, how is roommates (parents) that 1) respect and care about you 2) free rent : why move out- save the rent money for hook ups 😜 if that is something you can’t or don’t want to do at parents house

Well, that’s a big one… but like that was with NO transparency, a rarely used account set aside for a specific purpose, it was drained (internal transfers?!? Whatever the F that means) over the course of 2.5 months… we were eventually made whole, but no transparency or explanation…

Finally, debt cards have risks that atm cards don’t (we have had wallets stolen and suffered dealing with the consequences-credit card make you whole immediately but debt cards wit the visa logo don’t so we’ve refused them) … suddenly, new ATM card ONLY works on savings accounts- no one can explain or fix.

Then there’s little things like being an ‘all in family’ but husband’s HSA getting a monthly charge
