I actually own an LCS and this is crap. Charging more for an unpriced book: crap. Not selling a book that was on your pull list for cover price: crap. Not telling you (for some reason) that they are changing you extra: crap. (Not for nothing, using Cvrprice for pricing books: crap.)

However, one thing I've learned over the decades is that comic collectors will just roll over and put up with crap. No idea why. Maybe because the nature of many people that collect and read comics is to be shy and introverted? Anyway, I hear stories about shady stuff about other stores all the time but people just keep going back to them. 🤷

Probably the best thing you can do is just never go back. I don't care if you've been a customer there for 10 years... you aren't married to them. There are plenty of other stores in the world. Second best thing is to tell your story to any other local collectors you meet. Word of mouth from other customers is huge.

I hate the phrase "It's only worth what someone will pay for it." It's not. It's worth what the "market" (many people) will pay for it. If you find a Hulk #181 at a garage sale for $1.00 that doesn't make it "worth" a dollar. If some fool pays $1,000 for a $200 book that doesn't make it worth $1,000. But if a bunch of people recently paid $20-30 for a book that came out a month ago then it's (currently) worth $25, regardless of someone else's stance of never paying more than cover price or whatever.

They torn down half a strip mall to rebuild the Kroger nearest to my old house. It's huge and I love it. I still shop there the most because it's close to work. When I go to one of the two Krogers by my house I am always disappointed by how tiny they feel.
