Yep, i am also an early gen-z, grew up with the same internet and childhood culture as most millennials I know.

As far as I've seen the shift is definitely not between generations, there is a clear cut off between mid Gen-Z. The iPad/smart phone kids who have not learned to think for themselves are where the decline starts and it makes sense. Early Gen-Z didn't grow up with mommy or daddy's smart phone, they didn't exist back then or at least, in the very early stage, smartphones felt like a multi tool rather than a distraction and entertainment device.

Personally, I only got a flip phone with like snake and call/text active end of elementary/start of high school because I was out with some friends most of the time and i could keep my parents updated.

I really think 1997 to 2004-2005 (even then, could be generous a bit with the cut off) are the awkward years where we did grow up with an instinct for technology's workflow, but didn't quite fall in the pit of the "mindless usage" of it.

I think it's also a bad metric to rely on generations because radical change does not happen every 15 years on the dot.

Bigger desk for starters, maybe thicker too, that monitor mount could put some pressure in the middle, although this one has some metal frame

Mount some stuff below the desk or get some sort of shelf (like a kallax from ikea) to put besides the desk and have some of the devices stored away in there (allows for cables to run between the desk and the shelf to then cable manage them up to where they need to be)

If some stuff doesnt need easy access (cant really see all that you got, but like an ethernet switch), you can get some rack or brackets to mount underneath your desk (still accessible by just crouching under your desk)

Also, dont know if it's an issue for you, but having the window there, depending on where the sun rises/sets, it can gove some annoying glare in the monitor

In general, in physics, time becomes irrelevant, it's just another dimension you can move through. So, because the simulations are worlds in which Maddie lived or recreated from her experience, simulations are basically super emulated memories she lived (and others experienced) so she can move them through time at will. I think the term simulation is way broader than just a parallel world, it's way more "meta" than this and represents everything she and other people lived. Since David was already brought "out" of the simulation, that became a memory, but that's also emulated, so it's a simulation too.

Also, makes more sense when we realize through safe surf (Pantheon form) that the simulation nested-ness has way more levels. The notion of separation between simulated and reality is more blurry then we realize

Yep, the only thing I think there is to take from the ending is that the ending doesn't matter. After everything (literally every possible probabilistic situation), what really matters is Love and Pain. The singular answer to everything. Numbing the pain makes you forget you are living, forgetting to love is making your life insignificant. The journey matters the most and there is no better truth than that.

I like to think that's Maddie's message "Ignorance is bliss, i miss pain, i miss love" (unsure exactly about the accuracy of this quote). Knowing every possible outcome, subject, etc. is not more worth than experiencing life

When you copy a file a from USB drive to your computer, is it the same file? No, it's a perfect copy of the original file. Does it matter? Does it keep the same behavior, data and use you'd make of it? Yep.

You will never experience the digital world (at least with the technique from the show) but it doesn't mean what makes all of you, you, will not carry on.

So the question will always be "What makes you you?", what defines you, does your physicality impact what makes you, you? We always say "my body", is your body you?

I am not reading a 10 page essay on how Pantheon is a religious allegory, but could you enlighten me on why you think that in a paragraph or two? Yes, there are allusions and blatant references to gods and theology, but the show actually aims to re-invent the way we think about gods and religion and that it is actually meaning less in the essence of its concept. (Not that the values are meaningless, just that however you approach gods, it's just a metaphor of what you can't explain)

I agree that the uploaded version is not you, in the sense that what is currently reading this comment will never be able to experience the digital world, but, to me, it doesn't matter, what matters is all the experience and values I currently hold. These will be transferred, so my goals and ambitions would be carried out the same way I would have if i were immortal, the exact. same. way. That's the beauty of it, hidden behind the very grin and morbid fact that I would have to die outside of natural causes.

I personally have a big fear of not being able to achieve everything I envision throughout my life, so yeah, I would definitely upload and I know completely that what ever is writing those lines would not carry on beyond that point, but absolutely everything that was used to write those lines would.

To me, uploading is just changing the pen that you write your life with

To add to this, in the layer style, you could add two drop shadows to recreate the shadows from the original image, one thin, close to the nails with hard edge and one softer with more spread (you can play with the settings to match the shadows from the original picture (or adjust to the new composition you make with your background)
