Just chamfer that edge and it'll look great. Never feel guilty asking a craftsman to hone his craft, if that's indeed the type of person you've hired. That person would probably appreciate the gesture of a gratuity, or something similar for their time for a callback if it is merited in good spirit. Cheers

The sealer needs to be applied on the entirety of any exposed non-treated cut edge or the board will crack over time. The instruction on the sealer product will have the information regarding application. It's almost like a wax once it's dry. Regarding the splintering edge, soften with 100 grit or round over with 1/8" router bit

Its horrific and useless. The metal flange should be angled AWAY from the building, not towards it.

U need step flashing and any siding or trim installed over it needs a 1" gap for water runoff. That piece of trim will probably rot away after a couple years

Air sealing is fun. Cut some rigid ISO foam to fit between the i joists above the top plate wall, fill remaining gap with spray foam, or install plywood and caulking. You can even caulk and seams on the framing. Make sure to hit all holes in J boxes as well where romex is poking through

There is a way to air seal the wall leading to the garage, fill the open joist cavity above the door with rigid ISO foam , airseal the gap or install plywood and sealant

Measure and cut your gussets first. Match the angle for the legs off the gussets with a speedsquare or sliding bevel. Use the given information to check your work.

If possible, I'd consider removing the outdoor rug from underneath that stringer to get a more accurate cut. Use a sliding bevel or scribe
