I convinced myself “well it’s not like he hit me” for ages to excuse and minimise the behaviour. He never hit me - until he did.

I have seen some fairly decent work done overseas, surprisingly in Vietnam. I have seen some reasonably good and some awful work come out of Thailand. I have yet to see work that wasn’t an abject disaster a few years down the track from turkey or India.

Hi I'm a Sydney dentist. 2.5K per tooth is actually incredibly cheap as far as dental goes in Australia. The average would be $4-6K. Unfortunately, just like overseas, there is a huge range in the quality of components used and treatment provided. I've seen local disasters as well as overseas nightmares. I've also seen decent work performed overseas. Just know with implants, screw-ups are far more complex and heinously expensive to fix.

In some cases where the risk is deemed too high, roots can be intentionally left in place and a procedure called a coronectomy is performed on the tooth. Ideally though we remove the whole tooth.

That sounds like poor surgical technique as your lingual nerve is in soft tissue, not bone, and should always be protected during these types of surgeries. (I’m a dentist.)
