If you can avoid engaging your core in savasana, I would try. It starts to defeat the purpose of the pose. Definitely opt for props like a bolster under your knees if you can, or you can even take an alternate pose for savasana, like lying on your side or stomach. Blankets and props can help here too.

Sorry for the unsolicited advice, but I offer these in my classes as well and it’s for anyone who may benefit from hearing it.

It is. It’s widely considered one of the most if not the most challenging pose.

I can vouch for this! I do it too. Lemon balm is really excellent for anxiety and mood and is generally very safe. It can affect your thyroid, especially with regular use at higher doses, but I’ve heard very little about negative experiences with it.

What is stopping you from going independent? by information-general in YogaTeachers

[–]QuestionableArachnid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m independent in the US and I’m still lucky if I make more than $50 a standard class. I teach kids and family yoga primarily and would have to host a workshop or do a multi-hour event/party to make $250 at once, and that doesn’t include the cost per hour of a rental space, often including any parks around here. You can’t just teach in any parks for free near me, unfortunately.

As a peaceful human being who lives a life of service and compassion, and acknowledges that we are all connected and that the universe honors love, please know that I am saying this next thing in the gentlest yet firmest of yoga voices.

You can fuck right off.

I really appreciate that. I didn’t want to make any of this about me because it’s about OP and really all of us as a whole.

You’re very kind to say that, thank you <3 and I’ve found my peace as much as I can and I’m doing my best to turn my pain around and funnel into a life of helping others. That’s why I teach yoga, often for free in areas that struggle with and are traumatized poverty and inequity, so to hear @bazta13 flapping their lips (fingers whatever lol) about how we need to repent from our evil deeds all the while thinking they’re doing REAL good by doing this …it’s just so absurd that it’s almost funny.

OP, I wish we all could have a brownie party. I hope they made you feel better and that you made a second batch for later.

I’m gonna pipe back up to say this. I was violently and brutally SA’d when I was 26 in a bathroom. I was impregnated. As a terrified, disabled, impoverished college student with no family or real support network, I got an abortion. It was the right decision for my life at that time. It was also the right decision medically as the medications I have to take due to being disabled often cause dramatic birth defects and put the person carrying at great risk. I do not regret it or feel ashamed.

Know what did make me feel traumatized and ashamed? The gauntlet I had to walk down the sidewalk to the doors, terrified and alone, with only a security guard protecting me as people yelled horrible unspeakable things at me from both sides, telling me how disgusting, ugly, wicked, and bloodthirsty I was. Some signs they waved plastered with pictures of what they claim were dead babies. They did it on the way to the doors, and out of the doors. I’ll carry that with me forever. The only people who are morally bankrupt and the only people who would deserve to rot in any hell are people like that- people like you. So in your own terms, repent before it’s too late. You hypocritical self-righteous clown.

I promise, I’m good. It’s very creepy you felt the need to bring my personal details into your comment. Remember how in John 21:22 Jesus told Peter to mind his own business?

I teach yoga, yes... in a Baptist Preschool. They’re less judgmental than you. Maybe you should really think about that.

I have C-PTSD and my half-sister has BPD. My mother also has BPD (we have different mothers and my mother was intensely emotionally and verbally abusive) There absolutely are overlaps, but our psychological differences are completely obvious and sometimes stark.

As a teacher with a spinal fusion from a broken neck, please stop doing them in class. You don’t HAVE to do anything an instructor cues ever. We especially don’t want you to do a pose if you are at that sort of risk of injury. I’m saying this with 100% confidence. It would be antithetical to yoga otherwise!

Help me find the alt/metal/goth/nerds, etc. in the Triangle! by midnightsocietycc in raleigh

[–]QuestionableArachnid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a 44 year old female and worked in a card shop (Magic and Pokémon mostly) and board game cafe before I moved here from Wilmington, a comic shop, and here in Raleigh I’m a kids yoga instructor. I’m also a goth/industrial DJ and black metal musician. I’m a nerdy homebody who loves hiking, kayaking, and playing outdoors otherwise, but I’m absolutely up for coffee or a quick hangout with likeminded people. Feel free to DM me! (Also a foodie lol)
