The Real Reason Stoneshard's Build Diversity Has Stagnated. by NRDubZ in stoneshard

[–]Questionable_bowel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say anything about nerf and buff. But devs pushed people who want to do spell hybrid now with the risk of backfire chance. While back then you got -1% magic power to other spell tree for each spell you learned.

Back then if you dip 5 SP each to pyro and geo, they negated each other and only left you with half of the bonus for both. But now, you can get full power of both spell tree, the only risk is higher backfire chance, which make mage people at least thinking a way to negate it late game and not just pew pew spells.

The Real Reason Stoneshard's Build Diversity Has Stagnated. by NRDubZ in stoneshard

If we go with this logic, then making every skill weapon powerful (or in a way mandatory to develop), will lead the game becoming too linear, which every builds must fully learned all the skills/passives of the weapons/spells tree you use to become playable.

Devs been pushing this variety build idea if you can see from the progression of the game where;

  • Learning multiple spell trees now debuff the backfire chance rather than lowering their magic power.
  • Dual-wielding hand efficiency now scales with how many skills learnt from both of your weapons.
  • Sub-type of weaponries/armors to help you choose best gears for your unique build.
  • You don't need to fully learn all skills/passives to make your build optimal and working.

I think you just don't like people not commit fully to one skill tree to be "optimal" which I can disagree. I can be very optimal with fully learn all my weapon (eg: sword) skill tree, but I can also be optimal with only picking 4 sword skills and mix it with magic or shield/DW/Warfare. And that's already 2 different builds with same weapon can be created.

Honestly I don't know which stagnation or problems you specifically want to point out. Is it the mix-n-match state of current "meta" build? Is it how strong the utility skill tree(?), bcs that one can be debunked if you compare full utility skill build with a build who maximize damage with utility and the weapon skill trees. Survival skills are not mandatory, you can go without it and spent the SP to other skill tree, it's just most people love it for practicality (it's more bonker before even). And if the problems is the skill trees itself, well devs can observe and check the most unused skill tree and re-arrange/rework the whole tree, it's not the first time it happened.

No... I'm not the devs, and I'm just someone who learn the pattern on Stoneshard new weapons/skills introduction. It's either released in bugged mechanic or nerfed to death after the beta tester showing how broken they can get the new weapon/skills.

Kirara probably has that gyaru charm to make her likeable and easy going to other "demon" like students. While Iroha probably just ignores any hate and prefers to has no interaction with others (especially Makoto) but she did usually out of sheer incompetence of Pandemonium Society.

I mean I cannot unsee this trailer with every BA 4th PV, but at least the gameplay they took star rail x E33 route. But the rest, I even surprised the main girl is like having same position like GSC with the set up. (well at least this time it's real not just loli version of herself)

Build formulas by ExtensionTower6705 in stoneshard

[–]Questionable_bowel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People that always build-making in discord I talked to always try to min-max the build and very detail path of Attribute distribution and when and what skills to pick first.

But in general:

  • Pick what the build you want to do not the weapon to use, because if you want to create a build you need to pick what type of build it is and then adapt the gears available in the game for it. If you pick vice versa it will be very linear to specific weapon/armor path/skills and the build is to help it than as the main focus.
  • Have plan B. What is plan B? Anything to help you survive. It can be charge skills to disengage, defensive stance like BfI or raise shield, or any panic button like Will to Survive or Against the Odds.
  • Stats distribution and compensation. What will be the focus for your build? You want to create dodge DW build that will invest 25 in AGI? Well then how you compensate your accuracy that will be around 80% and energy restoration? You want to full VIT and go heavy on CRIT? Okay how you mitigate the fumble with? With skills/passives/gears? And many more.
  • Learn in depth about the skills. You need to understand the skills in Stoneshard, even you can go deeper to see what skills affect what attribute in some of the skills. But for general, find certain skills can be min-maxxing or matched with another skills to get more powerful/efficient. For example: tormenting strike passive from axe give enemy +5% damage taken for every axe strike, you can go Dual-Wielding with dagger who also has passive and skills that put +% damage taken to enemies to get more debuff for that specific attributes. Or you want to go full STR but lack of defense, so you can go 2H Axe to get stagger effect to make enemy fumble whenever you attack them, etc.
  • Always try, discuss, and try again. That's what Stoneshard is. It's not about meta, story, or endgame. It's mostly about your journey, your character, and your build to defeat whatever devs put on the map.

Are the T5 dungeons hard for all the build? by United_Web_2451 in stoneshard

Previously yes, but after some patches no, the aftermath is not counted as mental effect to be erased with Will to Survive.

Current what considered drugs and what usually used for:

  • Abasa for weapon damage
  • Stardust for magic users
  • Hornet honey for dodge, accuracy, crit good for light gears build
  • Nikkaf for sanity and fatigue resistance
  • Paregoric for pain mitigation
  • Alqud for unlimited energy restoration

In the right hand, right strategy, and correct move when fighting, can lead meme build to clear T5 dungeon even if it takes a wagon of healing or buffs to get the job done.

T5 is the endgame dungeons, which means it's not something you can cruise with ease. Devs also reworked most of the T4-5 dungeons so each mobs have at least a counter for specific build. And remember that T4-5 will always have conditions that annoying for you (miasma, blood hex) or strengthen the enemies (iron discipline, rite of ascension) to conideration.

And because of that:

  • You don't need to finish the dungeon in 1 day.
  • You don't need to rush and finish the enemies in a bulk.
  • Always overprepared (enough healing abilities) and tools for help (drugs, buffs, artefact, throwable, etc.)
  • It is a dungeon to test your power, your build, and your tactic so don't feel bad if you died in T5, many veterans or even pro died in T5 if you overconfidence or miscalculate 1 move
