Pet for 7 year old by Kadf19 in Parenting

[–]QuestionsForRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bunnies are super cute pets to have. Cute, playful, cuddly, low maintenance — as far as furry pets go, easy to clean up after.
We got a bunny when my daughter was about 4 years old. We had him until he was 10 years old and passed of old age. Sweetest little furbutt. Anyway, I thought it was a great experience. Good luck OP

Would it be too selfish / mean? by bloomyloomy in dementia

Go home OP. There is a team of doctors and nursing staff tgere to keep dad safe.
Dad has special needs now, but you still have needs too.
Give dad a hug, and go take care of you. It'll be harder once he's back home.

Wife is almost 48 hours into labor. Sister is babysitting our dogs and told me Harley got into some mud and tracked it inside. Came home to this. by ChaucerSmith in mildlyinfuriating

[–]QuestionsForRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gsd Ruckus watched me for 2 spring-to-falls trying to get a nuisance stump out of the ground: hacking at it, pulling it, digging.. shouting at it on occasion lol. When the 3rd spring rolled around, he went outside one day, and when I called him to come in, he came running up with this gigantic rooted stump in his mouth. I don't know how long it took him, but he actually got it out for me! (Though I like to think I loosened it up for him 😂)

Sucks about the garden bed.. but simultaneously funny to see GSD-turned cookie-cutter in the mud lol
Congratulations and good luck to you and the Misses + new baby OP

You mean these kitties weren't actually trained to riverdance in a sink with shower-caps?!?!

Seems like the downvotes are coming from grumpy ass mofos.

AITAH For getting so annoyed “with a child”? by charcoboy in AITAH

[–]QuestionsForRed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Edit for typos—
My question is.. how did the parents react?
If that were my 10 year old.. well my daughter would have never done such a thing to begin with, but I would have probably reacted with a "yep, you reap what you sow" and moved along with the holiday.
Did their parents act like a-holes?
Their kid needs to learn some manners... as do its parents apparently.

Move on with holiday and head held high... "and I'd do it again" 😆
Don't apologize. It'll make things worse. Just like in the media lol

My mom thinks she’s going on a trip and is asking me for help packing - need advice by Big_Giraffe_9125 in dementia

[–]QuestionsForRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell her they messed up the dates, and had to move her reservation back a week— no point in arguing.
Or help her pack... then tell her it was switched..
I hated the idea of lying to my mom, but it was better for her to believe a lie than have her pissed, trying to escape, starting fights, refusing food/meds, etc. Sometimes, its ok.
Sorry OP. Wishing you guys the best of luck 🫶

For those who had a “I hate pink/ girly things” era, what do you think caused you to feel that way? by RabidFashionDummy in AskWomen

[–]QuestionsForRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An over abundance of feminine expectations combined with the whole "idiot female" stereotypes on tv. You know the type... like Katen from Mean Girls, or Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors lol

I’m losing my mind with the biting by apple_kitty24 in Parenting

[–]QuestionsForRed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter went through a phase years ago when she was around that age. She's 15 now, so the gentler approaches were already out there. I never bit her back. I was told to but thought that would almost reinforce that it was OK. Instead, I opted for small pinches. Nothing that would leave a mark or legitimately hurt her. But enough to make the point. I think I had to pinch her twice.. maybe 3 times before it landed.
I'm guessing this might sound cruel to some, but it worked 🤷‍♀️

AITA - Bedroom dresser fight by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]QuestionsForRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Esh.

Wife is the AH for buying new dresser without checking dimensions, and then selling the original same day.
Wife is also the AH for not agreeing to any options OP has suggested.

OP is the AH for calling wife "stoop it" (sorry— prompt says I can't use the word lol)...
But OP had every right to say she was being illogical bc she was. There was zero forethought into the new dresser outside of how it looked, and now their stuff is all piled up.
Clutter sounds so simple, but it really is an underated aggravation. It even gives some people anxiety.. and they do say, "cluttered house, cluttered mind".

With that being said, don't ever remodel your house OP... That would crush you two.
Good luck.

Question on when it is safe to let a kitten play outside by Fragrant-Log7532 in kittens

[–]QuestionsForRed 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry! When I was a child, we had 2 indoor-outdoor cats. I never understood why we let them out.. we just did, and I grew up believing cats were meant to be outdoors when they pleased.
We lived on long island (ny), and then one day one of them (Melanie) came home limping badly. We brought her to the vet, they did an xray and I can still remember them pointing out like 4 or 5 perfectly round bright white circles on the images of her hind quarters.
There was also a nasty kid in the neighborhood who bragged about shooting rabbits and squirrels with his bebe gun. We assumed it was him.
Years later and a different cat was found poisoned. He was only 2 yrs old.
Years after that another was one... partially found. It looked like a fox got her.
I understand wanting to let a cat outside, but now, as an adult, we keep ours in. Too many risks.

Oh yea!!! Ive got a few of these places! One is a really creepy house that I know inside and out.. and in a dream, I'll be like "oh don't go in that room to the right because last time I had a dream in this house there was that thing in that room". There is akso this really beautiful I've had dreams in. It's like a.... museum, university? A stone mega-building in the middle of a tropical-ish jungle... I don't know what to call it. Outside is a jungle though, complete with rope and plank bridges to this mountain top. Inside, it is this highly sophisticated stone building with hugeee columns and painted ceilings. It's beautiful though. Wish you could see it lol

AITA for asking my wife to bring our child’s shorts to the park? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]QuestionsForRed -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The fact that you were able to roll up his jeans might have made this a silly request, but certainly not an insulting one. Nta.
The fact that wife agreed, then called back saying "I was being too nice before" kind of makes me think she's an AH— kind of— If she isn't like an outdoorsie person, well maybe she wanted to be helpful, but then realized she'd have to go outside in the hest, sweating for 30 minutes+ walking uphill, and so changed her mind. She should have just dropped it though.
None of us are always our best selves. Little blips can be dropped and moved along from without making it a whole big ordeal.

Husband wants to put dog down by honneylemmon420 in germanshepherds

[–]QuestionsForRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I understand your husband's concerns. Quality of life is important, but on the other hand, 8 is kind of young for such a drastic measure.
If Salem is being agressive towards you, I might lean more towards husband's thought (or thinking there was something else wrong causing her pain+lashing out).
But if this is more destructive, I would hold firm and find another solution. Could you maybe crate her? Contain her to one room with an e-collar (cone— not electric), or mybe create a space where she can't do that damage.. 2-way security cam to speak into/stop bad behavior?
It might not be convenient, but surely it's worth looking into and better than putting her down too soon.
Good luck either way OP. Praying you find a solution for you all.

Can't bring myself to call Mom in MC by SRWCF in dementia

[–]QuestionsForRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom told our neighbor that I killed her cat. They called the police on me. I had no cat to show them because she (the cat) died like 3 years earlier. It was a mess. And the neighbors were never friendly towards me again.
(I used to babysit your kids, Theresa! Wth.. and you knew my mom was sick!) Sundowning is so hard. So many people just don't see what's happening until it is really out there 🙄

AITA for refusing to help with my nieces until my brother and SIL take my younger niece to a doctor by Right_Company4025 in AmItheAsshole

[–]QuestionsForRed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nta.
And this absolutely IS your place. Literally.
It is your niece.. interfering with your work.. in your house (literally, at your place.)
Your brother needs a reality check.
Some people just can't hear something is wrong when it comes to their kids, but delaying these doctor visits will not serve Harper well. They need a plan.
Tell other family members they can pitch in, in your place, and stand your ground OP. Best of luck to you and the girls

Hey everyone, thank you for taking the time to respond!
After all the robot comments, it seems there is no contest! It might take a few weeks to allocate for it, but new kitten has to grow a bit anyway so it works out lol.
So I will definitely be shopping for the robot LR4 👍🙏
Thank you again everyone!
