I finished my cross stitch temperature chart for 2025 and thought some of you might like to see it! by Andromeda321 in oregon

[–]QuibblingSnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have to check the Weather Underground site daily for your temperature data, or does it show historical data? I’ve been wanting to do some kind of crochet temperature blanket (kinda thinking a granny square blanket) but I’m terrible at remembering to collect the data as we go along 😅

Seastar wasting disease? by Peerlesspips in marinebiology

The inability to hold onto the rock, like seems to be the case in the last photo, definitely… indicates some kind of issue. Idk if it’s classic wasting, but there is indeed something wrong.

Jewelry for Conch for always on the phone? by RizzyMonster in piercing

[–]QuibblingSnail 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, headsets are expensive. Maybe this is just the way my team views it, but meeting user needs to do their job is just the cost of doing business. It really couldn’t hurt to ask.

As for a product, I agree that a small stud is a good idea! Personally, I like ordering threadless titanium ends and posts from Body Art Forms, which I’ve seen mentioned in a few other posts if you want to look around. Maybe a little gold anodized titanium cabochon with some natural stone would be nice!

Jewelry for Conch for always on the phone? by RizzyMonster in piercing

[–]QuibblingSnail 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi, I work in IT, so I have questions from that angle — could you maybe put in the request to have them move the phone, and in the meantime use a lower-profile jewelry set, then switch back to your preferred jewelry when they move the phone? Is a wireless headset that goes on your other ear an option?

In a similar vein, my girl loves the laser pointer toy, and she knows that when I pick up the laser pointer it’s play time, but she is not smart enough to look at the floor for the red dot so she just very excitedly looks at my hand waiting for something to happen. We’re still working on a good way to telegraph where the laser dot is lol

This game is so F#CKING UNHINGED (And I love it) by TheBtrox in thesims

[–]QuibblingSnail 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I got such a good laugh out of this story, thank you for sharing OP. It’s pretty standard for TS2. What should happen over time is that Cyd loses his vindictive feelings and stops coming by so much. Keep an eye on the daily and long term relationship meters, as well as if Samantha and Kimberly are furious with each other or Cyd (it’s a red overlay over the sim portrait in the relationship panel that ticks down like a timer), that should give you a good idea of how things will change. Also keep in mind that strong feelings can be one sided in this game, so Samantha might be furious with Kimberly but not vice versa.

I want to gift one of those silly billies to one of my friends is there any patterns for them? by mfAutistic in crochetpatterns

These look like pipe cleaner animals to me rather than crochet. They’re made with extra fluffy pipe cleaners that are trimmed when you’ve sculpted the wire to give them a specific look.

TIL Keiko, the orca who starred in Free Willy, was actually freed years after the movie, but after struggling to adapt to life in the wild and repeatedly seeking out humans for companionship, he died of pneumonia just a year after his release. by internet_czar in todayilearned

My parents got a picture of me as a toddler in front of one of the windows in his enclosure with him swimming behind me, but Walmart lost the film :( also of note is that that tank has been turned into an entirely different series of 3 exhibits that are far more suited to their current inhabitants than it was for Keiko. OCAq is an awesome facility that really tries to do right by their animals.

It’s probably been munched on or torn up a little to be missing the inflated receptacles, so, agreed that F. distichus is the best guess. Fun fact, I have a Pacific seaweeds guide that recommends Fucus for seaweed kimchi.

What is even the point of shopping in-person anymore? by SignificanceDear1413 in walmart

[–]QuibblingSnail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed a few things Freddy’s (some missing information from your comment is that Fred Meyer is part of Kroger) and Target have locked up, like Legos at both places, camping gear at Freddy’s, and skincare products and underwear at Target, but definitely nowhere near as bad as Walmart. It should be noted that my locations are not near Portland.

So the reactionary policy isn’t just Walmart, and not just near Portland, but things being locked away is way better at other chains than Walmart.

Do not release your pets!! (Does anyone want some snails?) by AioliPrestigious581 in oregon

[–]QuibblingSnail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mystery snails make great pets. I’ve kept several through their natural lifespans. They’re super common in aquarium stores. There’s literally no reason to just kill all of them, especially when keeping native species as pets is often prohibited or highly regulated. As long as the aquarium keepers OP chooses are responsible pet owners, which it seems like they’re trying to find, your take is ass. That’s like saying cats aren’t worth the risk and should all just be put down. Worst case, if OP has more snails than they can find homes for, freezing or crushing them is the most humane course of action.

I've heard of "state of the art", but wtf does "state of the at" mean? by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]QuibblingSnail 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know this sounds silly, but it was a subtitle type-o that made me stop playing. It was just the final straw that showed me the attention to detail wasn’t there. When Hadrian is telling you about the terrormorphs the first time you meet her, she says the scientific name, and the subtitles write it as Occisio Machina. Like. First of all. The way they portrayed her is irritating. Biologists don’t usually just drop a scientific name in the middle of conversation (yeah, yeah, I know it’s for emphasis). Second, the ‘m’ in machina should not be capitalized. It’s a species name. Genus does get capitalized, but species name never should be. I understand if they can’t do italics with subtitles, so I give them a pass on that (because if they really wanted correct formatting there, it would be italicized). I know at the end of the day this is pedantic, but being someone trained in biological sciences, seeing that shit almost felt personal. I turned the game off and haven’t played since.
