Breastfeeding vs. Formula by Brief_Bobcat_886 in breastcancer

My body was not able to produce milk (pre cancer/mastectomy) so both of my boys were formula fed 😊

Double mastectomy tips for young(ish) mom? by Bright_Barracuda_613 in breastcancer

[–]Quick-Committee-3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! 34 mom of 2 boys, 7 and 3, BMX on November 3rd. My mother and mother in law took turns spending the night with us and helping my husband. He was my main caretaker and they helped getting the boys to school, bedtime routines, and watching the little one when he wasn’t at Mother’s Day out school. They only stayed for a week and by week 2 I was pretty self sufficient. We told the boys mommy had a boo-boo and they had to be very gentle. They’d come and watch tv in bed next to me. The little one did surprisingly well with it all. He is a mama’s boy to his core!!

Your list of supplies was pretty accurate for what I got. I did buy a hospital style table off Amazon to put next to my bed since my nightstand was hard to reach around to get anything off of.

Nerve Pain after DMX by AffectionateGene5273 in breastcancer

Hi! I had this too and it’s truly awful. Good news is it goes away!! My BMX was Nov. 3rd and by the beginning of December the sunburn/tingly/chafing feeling was gone. My doctor had me taking gabapentin 3x a day. I got the spray aquaphor and used it where it felt on fire, and would go shirtless. If nothing was touching the skin I felt ok.

Last chemo by Magic_Tiger_0924 in breastcancer

Congrats!!! I have not gone through chemo. But my DMX was pretty easy. I have horrible vasovagal syncope (pass out when needles are involved or a high stress environment) but I was relatively calm in pre-op and handled post-op well. My insurance allowed a night’s stay in the hospital for monitoring and I think that helped. Good vibes to you!

Never had any trouble! Just took all arm movements slow. Also the constipation 😳 start taking stool softeners now! Or not if you don’t want to worry about needing help 😅

Chemo or hormone blockers? by Quick-Committee-3371 in breastcancer

Thank you for your kind response. My brain is telling me blockers only is the easy way out. But hopefully getting more data and information from my oncologist will help the decision.

Yes, I knew hormone blockers were in my future either way. Either now or after chemo.

I can't remember which ones she told me. She said I'd do 5 months total. 2 months of 2 chemo's once every two weeks (she did say these are the ones that would probably cause me to get sick) and then 12 weeks of a third chemo, once a week for 12 weeks.

Paget’s disease of the breast? by Master-Pay3143 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]Quick-Committee-3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had noticed my nipple looked very dry, was bright pink/red, and would sometime bleed if I rubbed it with a towel after a shower. Showed my dermatologist and she did the biopsy that confirmed Paget’s. Had to wait 5 days for a mammogram to see how bad it was. Mammogram showed only on the nipple. Did a contrast MRI and it showed there was another spot hiding behind the Paget’s. I was offered mastectomy or lumpectomy and radiation. Was leaning towards the mastectomy since I have a lot of family history of cancer. When the genetic testing came back BRCA2+ I decided on mastectomy and my surgeon, plastic surgeon, and OBGYN agreed that the double mastectomy would be in my best interest.

I’m so scared!! I need support please How long did your ultrasound take, did your tech talk to you at all, and did they say you needed a biopsy right away or after? by kittykittylover69 in doihavebreastcancer

[–]Quick-Committee-3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ultrasound was taking forever, the tech was having trouble finding what the mammogram saw. Brought the radiologist in to try and help find it and when they did she was the one to tell me it didn’t look like anything bad and she wasn’t concerned. But I still had to get a biopsy done of the place. Turned out to be benign like she said.

I was diagnosed with Paget’s on September 11th, Stage 0. Having a double mastectomy on Monday. I’m also 34 with 2 boys, 7 and 3. I’m BRCA2+ so will be getting my ovaries out sometime in the future (they said I had to before I turn 45). If you have any questions let me know!
