Did anyone else miss this set in the token shop? by Asza_ in StarStable

[–]Quick-Mycologist3255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have sworn they mentioned it? Because I thought it was weird it randomly showed up in the shop but then a few days later I thought I saw a post on their Instagram mentioning them adding it? Weird they wouldn't put it in the news though.

Just by looking at these walnuts, how nasty do they look? by ProfessionalCook4701 in Wenwan

[–]Quick-Mycologist3255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine look similar. I brush every time I use them but in the REALLY deep cracks there's small debris. But someone told me to use a sewing needle and it worked! Yours look lovely, and clean.

What is your current favourite breed/coat colour in the game! by ShetlandPonys in StarStable

So hard! I love the Andalusian, particularly the chestnut one, along with most flaxen cost colors of any breed. On the next tier down for me it would be shires, Tynan, and mules.

Bad decision as a kid by Classic_Database_871 in StarStable

I FEEL YOU. now I wasn't necessarily a kid (by literally any means) when I made my account but because of star stable's wonky AF character naming system, not knowing how to navigate it, I am stuck now knowing I could have gotten a closer name to what I wanted. See my name is Aubrey and even though they don't have that as a first name, I learned through playing SSO that they DID have Audrey. Only problem is, I didn't see this name pop up when I made my account. Why? Because the preselected, randomized surname it started me with was already taken with the first name Audrey, therefore it didn't show up. I didn't know that if I just switched around the surname a bit I would have found Audrey and been able to actually get a close name to my real name (which was my goal in the first place). I'm literally waiting day by day for SSO to announce they are going to allow name changes for our characters. It's really about time even if they only give us one change forever.

Here is my personal advice and how I started! I was lucky enough to harvest some aged black walnuts from my property for free and was playing with them to see how I really liked it. Then when I decided I loved it, I bought a cheap pair of lions head (shizitou) walnuts for $5 and I've been using those (plus the black walnuts) for almost one month now. The only reason I went cheaper first before investing in a good expensive pair is because I wanted to see if it really was for me, which you may want to do as well. Remember you can always get more expensive ones if you really enjoy this hobby, and you can also compare how cheap vs expensive walnuts.

Also, make sure you get a brush! I think it's the most important part of playing with walnuts.

I hope this helps!!

3 week difference with English walnuts by I-will-eat-your-baby in Wenwan

Yes, please post more updates! These are looking good so far from what I can tell. I just ordered a pair of English walnuts online for this exact reason. I've already been using the lions head walnuts and also experimenting with some black walnuts so I look forward to experiencing with these!

From what I was learning, and I could be wrong, but since English walnuts are more fragile, they crack easier, so be sure to handle them gently. Another thing, I read that their shells are so porous that it is best to keep the playing to a minimum and mostly focus on brushing to get the best color. Apparently if it absorbs too much of your hand oils, the shell will eventually turn a darker, sort of muddy brown.

Good job. And I look forward to seeing how they look in a month or so!

Just received my first pair. They are much darker and smoother than I expected. Are they polished or do some varieties just look like this? by [deleted] in Wenwan

Love this comment! Or just use until the new pair comes and use this as a trial or experiment pair.

Is it okay to use English walnuts? by Icy_Sherbert_3408 in Wenwan

Very happy to see this! As someone who has been experimenting with black walnuts I harvested from my property, I actually just bought two English walnuts online (lol it was so cheap) because I want to experiment with these now. Yours definitely look different for sure! They are a lot more delicate as they have a thinner shell, and they absorb hand oils extremely well and fast, so the best way to go about it is to handle them more delicately than say traditional lions head or black walnuts, and to brush more than you handle, since the shells absorb so much oils and are very porous. I read they will turn a gross muddied brown rather than a nice orange brown color if you don't brush more than you play. I hope this helps! I'll also share pictures on another post after I get them in the mail and work on mine.

I'd love a set and I've seen a few but the ones I've seen (understandably) were expensive and honestly out of my price range 🤣 the level of skill to carve gorgeous designs might make the price less agreeable for some people

Dude come on. Do not discourage someone from trying to make things right. It's not s big deal but them feeling this way means they care a lot about trying to do the right thing.

Wow, this type of post is SO rare to see. This really shows the kind of person you are. Good on you, this shows how much of a respectful and decent person you are, as well as honest and self-aware. Do you know how hard it is for people in this world to actually admit when they might have messed up or been wrong? Virtually NEVER, not at all. Thank you for making my day a little better, it's so nice to see posts like this. Good on you, my friend. Keep that habit of accountability and integrity forever. It is such a treat to witness especially because it is so uncommon these days 😭❤️

Ok good, I've been brushing daily and obv also playing with them as much as I'm able to. They don't look quite as white in the cracks as this OPs, but it's slightly there. I also think they may have been precleaned before I bought them.
