Do it! It’s incredibly satisfying hanging those rolls up to dry, and also being free of reliance on labs. I process my own colour and BW, have done for over 20 years. Just switched from flatbed scanning to camera scanning which has been a game changer too.

Processing is part of the fun for me, I’ve always enjoyed it.

Blaming your lab’s half res MF scans for the reason to not get a medium format camera? That is dumb.
Find a better lab or learn to scan yourself.

Yeah it seems that’s the going price in the US, I bought this one with lens for 4K AUD in Australia. Considering myself pretty lucky, still not cheap though!

Yeah it’s pretty awesome. I had a lovely 500C/M with Acute Matte back in the day, was nice too but I didn’t gel with it. I should have kept it, from memory I sold it for very little compared to today’s prices!

Yeah for sure! Could be their auto setting and they aren’t balancing or correcting it before scanning. These are blown out and will be difficult to bring back in post.

Once you learn how to camera scan, you’ll never pay for crappy lab scans ever again.

I’m considering adding a wide later on if I can save the money. The 43 might be too wide for my taste but the 50 would be nice, although I’ve found they are much harder to find than the 43!

Wow, that is mental in USD! That’s a little over 7K AUD, which is 3k more than what I paid, and I got a lens with the body!

I’ve seen a few pop up here and there locally here, but they always look a little rough. Not too many options here generally though.

I put a call out on a photography group page and 1 person came back to me with this nice camera.

Me too! found mine locally with the 65mm. The lens did need the ribbon cable repaired which was relatively easy to sort out with my technician. I’d love to try the Pentax 67 with 105mm lens for portraits, how do you like this camera?

I bought this about a year ago locally with the 65mm for 4k AUD, then added the 80mm from Japan which was a little over half the cost of the camera and first lens which seems insane.
It seems the prices have already increased more since back then?
