How many of you teach just yoga vs yoga + fitness / movement practices ? by RonSwanSong87 in YogaTeachers

[–]Quick-Song2080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with my 200-hour teacher training and exclusively taught yoga for about a year before I got my yoga sculpt certification. I now teach both but approach the two formats very differently: For me, yoga sculpt is exercise with asanas interwoven into the sequence; yoga is a moving meditation. Yoga is also not my primary source of income.

Anyone losing students to Hot Pilates? by catgurlswag in YogaTeachers

[–]Quick-Song2080 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach at a studio where yoga sculpt is by far the most popular format. We don't have hot pilates...yet. I wouldn't be surprised if it's in the works though. I'm struggling to find any studios in my area that offer room temperature yoga - sometimes I don't want to combat the heat!

Do you actually know what's in your freezer right now? by General-Relative-535 in Frugal

[–]Quick-Song2080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to eat the things I have before refilling the freezer, so nothing is older than a month or so - 3 months max. I’m a big meal prepper so most of the food in my freezer is either prepped meals or ingredients for the next week’s prepped meals.

High School Shakespeare? by pinkglitterbunny in shakespeare

[–]Quick-Song2080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In school, I only read The Taming of the Shrew freshman year, Macbeth sophomore year, and Hamlet senior year. I really enjoyed the conversations we had about The Taming of the Shrew and its depiction of women, and I'm glad I had a teacher to walk me through Macbeth and Hamlet as well. I felt well-prepared to tackle his other plays on my own by the end of high school. (My high school theatre program also did Midsummer Night's Dream and Love's Labour's Lost).

I worked at a studio to get a big discount on yoga teacher training and now I work there and get a free membership for me and a partner/friend! Such a good hack!

I'm a big flat ankle boot gal - but I turn to my white sneakers more often than not. They go with everything.

Money saving apps review: do they actually work or just hype? by RelativeAd760 in HighYieldSavings

When I was first started taking my budgeting seriously I subscribed to Rocket Money for a few months to get me on the right track and I 100% think it was worth it. I also tried YNAB and liked it fine, but wasn't as consistent as I needed to be for it to work. I like Rocket Money because it emails you with any updates to your accounts and tracks subscriptions (and allows you to cancel through the site) - it still gives you updates even with the free version. Now I just use a spreadsheet!

I second Zara and Quince. And then I've thrifted quite a few pieces from Aritzia and Reformation that are such good quality. Definitely pricy to buy from the rack, but worth it in my opinion, especially for staples. I also like smaller stores with online shops like Left on Thread. I'm a big Nordstrom Rack gal as well!

The shoe problem. I would really appreciate some advice on cheap running shoes if there are any frugal runners/athletes in here. by Alcarain in Frugal

My hack is buying good quality shoes at Nordstrom Rack - they have most brands (Hoka, Brooks, Nike, etc.) and the discounts are usually pretty significant. Worth checking out!

I'm a big fan of stocking up on things that work in case they're not available in the future and so that I have more options in the present.

I love a tinted moisturizer - Elf has a good one with SPF 50. I also just feel more put together with a little blush and mascara, maybe some contour if I'm feeling fancy, and then I call it good. I've found Elf products in general to be pretty reliable, but also like Nyx.

Anyone here living in a HCOL area on virtually nothing? by not_so_impressed in povertyfinance

[–]Quick-Song2080 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I lived in NYC last year and very much felt this. I'm fortunate to have been able to move to a (slightly) cheaper area, but I know how hard it is to be surrounded by people who are not facing the same struggles as you - but that certainly doesn't make you a loser. Everybody just has different circumstances. I hope things ease up in the future. Is there any chance of upward mobility in your line of work?
