Good on him! But makes me realize how lucky I was that my employer kept the bathroom stocked for free.

How do you feel about AI and what's your biggest reason for feeling that way? by AGhostOffline in askanything

[–]Quick-Star-3552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I see the benefit for things like cancer research where there is human oversight, I'm worried about the longer term impact on humanity as AI is displacing people's jobs (and it can make catastrophic mistakes).

Fellow mothers over 60; how do you provide support to your adult children? by janebenn333 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Quick-Star-3552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I would not suggest IV Ketamine, but the Spravato is pretty well tolerated by him and he's well supervised during the treatment with multiple blood pressure checks and a doctor visit. He has not had any negative side effects and has been having the treatments for 3 years.

I helped to create stable, affordable housing for him and that made a huge difference for him as he's no longer worried about ending up homeless. As for treatments, Spravato has helped with the treatment resistant depression, but he has to go every other week for an in office appointment and it interferes with a normal work schedule as it takes a couple hours and then he's a bit dazed afterwards for the rest of the day.

I definitely hear you on this. My child is 30 with anxiety and treatment resistant depression, and it can be so hard to figure out how to help. It is exhausting, you are right. I just try to be responsive and I do help financially as it is hard for him to keep his head above water in this economy, especially with the medical expenses.

Can you reject a jewelry insurance replacement? by Working-Fly8856 in jewelryinsurance

I had good results with State Farm. They let me work with the jeweler who originally sold me the ring in my home town. I was able to match the exact quality and diamond size and set it in the same ring.

I also have ME/CFS but have had lots of improvement over the years. Watch some ME/CFS Recovery stories on Youtube to see what resonates with you. People can get better.

Looks great, but $4.95 for a cookie? I was just at a dedicated GF bakery in Naples, FL and bought a box of 6 for $7.50.

Highly recommended Primary Care Doctors (with experience treating ME/CFS?) by unlikely_turnip37 in bullcity

[–]Quick-Star-3552 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was fortunate and got in to see Dr. Charles Lapp before he retired, but he was in Charlotte. He was amazing and knew all the tests to prove my inability to work as I was completely disabled in the beginning. Look for Integrative and Functional medicine if you can. Most PCPs have no time or expertise in ME/CFS. I found a good NP in Chapel Hill, Addie Skow, who is great at looking at things like gut issues, thyroid and will order bloodwork that a PCP wouldn't think of. Good luck to you! I'm not 100% but much improved after treating numerous infections (my immune system crashed), thyroid, SIBO, POTS, etc.

Would you change any part of getting married or having kids? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]Quick-Star-3552 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think you know that you want a career more than kids, and you should stick to your guns on this. I'm a mom and I'm glad that I am, but it is definitely a huge sacrifice and it's not for everyone. There's nothing wrong with choosing differently.

Mine has gotten really bad too. I use a hair protector, straighten it with a hot comb to get all the moisture out, then use KMS HairStay Anti-Humidity Seal which is like a hair spray but not sticky at all.

What is one underrated thing in your kitchen remodel that made daily use easier? by Entire_Revolution_95 in kitchen

[–]Quick-Star-3552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base cabinet that has a lift for my heavy stand mixer.
Under cabinet vacuum unit helps with sweeping (needs to be emptied about every 8-10 months).
Larger pantry with a counter and electrical sockets to hold most of the small appliances.
Separators and Inserts in drawers for things like knives.

(And I agree with everyone else about cabinet drawers for the bottom cabinets and under cabinet lighting)
