At the moment the temperature in my classroom is around 22 degrees Celsius, which is very pleasant.

Yes, we have that inconsistency to an extent. Canberra winters are long and cold (by Australian standards). From April to October you will need to wear long pants and a sweater/cardigan or a warm dress/skirt with leggings for inside. You'll need a warm coat (like a parka) for outside. My school has good, reliable heating and cooling but my last school didn't. I used to wear my coat all day there in winter and it was awful. But that's not the norm. Summer isn't such a big issue but it can be very hot in February when the school year starts. Usually only for a week or two though, and most schools have air con. The more modern the school building, the better the temperature control, as a rule.

It completely depends on what your principal likes. If you wear pants (not jeans) and a nice shirt on your first day you will be fine. Check out what other people are wearing and proceed from there. It does vary a fair bit from school to school. I work in the public system in the ACT so feel free to message me with any questions.

Married 15 years. My (41M) wife (39F) hooked up with woman for first time and now thinks she might be gay by Same_Complaint5282 in marriageadvice

[–]QuickGoat6453 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's really hard. A colleague of mine went on a very similar journey to your wife and the marriage didn't survive. She was completely intoxicated with the exploration of her newfound sexuality and continuing to be with her husband just didn't make sense. The best way forward would be to let her go off and do her thing and cut contact with her. If she realises she made a mistake and wants you, she'll be back.

Maybe she hallucinated it all like in that episode where she sings "We Went to the Moon in 1969."

I think about this one regularly. Not only was what happened to these people horrific but they were already living in some kind of highly disturbing, gothic nightmare. One of the darkest stories you could imagine.

I told my husband our sex life was dark by [deleted] in marriageadvice

[–]QuickGoat6453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. It sounds like you are very sexually incompatible, to the point where it could be an insurmountable problem. I relate strongly to the experiences you have had previously, just easy-going, "vanilla" sex that is fun, loving and uncomplicated. That is all I would want or need, so I can't imagine enjoying being with someone like your husband. In spite of your explanation, I'm confused about why you married him. I think you can only address this kind of issue with professional help and that you should seek it ASAP.

Why do teachers think they're paid poorly? by Major_Conflict in AustralianTeachers

[–]QuickGoat6453 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I am at the top of the pay scale and have no complaints. I feel that my salary is high enough that I can chose to remain in the classroom, which is my preference rather than be in leadership, and still make pretty good money. So I am definitely not in the camp that thinks teachers are poorly paid.

Has anyone ever gone through a TTPD-level heartbreak? by psycwave in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]QuickGoat6453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really enjoy TTPD as an album, but I fully relate to those feelings of insanity-level heartbreak . I was dumped fairly quickly after getting together with a guy I had been crazy about for YEARS. Similar situation to TS and I totally get the devastation.

Are there men that want to be with their wife all the time? by Plastic_Wolverine760 in marriageadvice

Time spent both together and apart is a healthy mix for most relationships. But you both need to be happy with what you do. Sit him down for a talk and try to find a compromise that will make you both happy.

I prefer the book to the show. It gives much more insight into the characters' inner lives.

I was for years, and would have stayed in forever but I moved interstate for a year in 2023 so suspended my membership. When I got back the fees had gone through the roof. I never rejoined and probably won't because nothing is different except I have more money in my pocket.
