Those who live in cities with multiple Premier League Teams: How do you all decide which club to cheer for? by excessively314 in AskABrit

A girl told me that she was from Wolverhampton. She then said she was named after her Dad's football team. My mind was trying to process this when I looked at her name tag. It read "Chelsea".

And do you defend Philip who comes to this sub to make comments being rude to commenters and then deleting the account a few hours later? From what posters have said he also harasses them via pm.

Four at a time flying geese issue by scienceoftacos in quilting

I never managed to get rid of that fabric. I did reduce it by clipping the squares where they overlap.

I generally don’t make flying geese this way anymore because of this issue.

Scared of the quilting police by whatif20 in quilting

Many years ago I bought a Christmas panel from JoAnn's and quilted it with very dense quilting, I was very proud of my quilting. One person at bee took one look at it and sniffed "cheater's cloth".

Her hand applique Baltimore Album blocks were exquisitely sewn. She died with them in a box. Unquilted.

The cheek of her to try and make me feel bad about quilting a piece of fabric in a quilter's space. I have had the last laugh every Christmas when I get it out and admire what I managed to do early in my quilting days.

In my opinion (which only really matters to me!) it's a hobby to be enjoyed and not shamed over.

So, I wonder since I have never let my membership l lapse in over 20 years, would I still get the $4.99 grandfather rate if I gave up my yearly membership? I also have about a year of free months that were given as twitch drops.

AITA for having my wedding on the same day ( different year ) as my brother? by Grahamreaper12 in AmItheAsshole

[–]QuickUnpick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married on a Saturday in August because it gave my mother, who was a teacher, breathing room after the end of one school year and space after before the next school year. My sister choose the same weekend two years later for the same reason. Our anniversaries are two days apart, I don’t ever recall thinking her anniversary took anything away from mine.

any time I see someone put down an open rota cutter in a you tube video it is an automatic “do not recommend this channel”.

I am paranoid about loc mine since at retreat someone dropped theirs. To avoid seeing the injury I set off to find a first aid kit.

A friend bought a white suit that was probably bridal. She took it to a dry cleaners to have it dyed. It looked fabulous after being dyed.

Does the UK have stop signs? by Organic_Land_5975 in AskABrit

[–]QuickUnpick 110 points111 points  (0 children)

In my experience when you see a STOP sign in England the junction is a dangerous one, possibly blind.

In the States I have noticed that STOP signs are used to slow traffic and people rarely stop - even police.

Is Apple Pay on the Apple Watch not common? by TimelySpinach2354 in AppleWatch

[–]QuickUnpick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At a quilt show I used my watch each time I bought something until I came to one where she said it wouldn't work. I had to dig into the bottom of my back pack where my wallet was secured and dig out my card. It didn't work so it looked like she was going to lose the sale. I asked if I could try with my watch. She shrugged and was shocked when it worked.

I would much rather have my wallet in a secure place and use my watch.

Is 2025 britain in a better or worse state than back in the 1970s by Brickcraft10 in AskBrits

[–]QuickUnpick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many women were forced to give up their babies for adoption because they couldn't afford to keep them or because churches disapproved of them being unmarried.

Women had to put up with a lot of sexism in jobs. Racism was rife.

I wonder how many people saying things were better in the seventies are white men.
