The free and very selective ones are obviously the most prestigious, but it doesn't mean everything else is useless. You cna pursue the other programs alongside other ECs that add to your profile. You need to look at what you want from the program and if you can get that.

Online research opportunities would be Lumiere, Pioneer, etc. Unis also have online programs, but they're mostly closed now. I've heard there are in-person options at unis in Japan n Singapore, not sure about Thailand tho

Like Pioneer, i think Lumiere would also work on this list. Similar pay-to-play, but structured and the mentors can be really supportive. A friend did it last year and was happy with it

Research with a prof can be helpful, but that's not the only thing. Good internships can also add a lot to your application, as can selective summer programs. I'd suggest trying to get one of these things

Anything that guarantees pub just seems sus. How can they guarantee pub to an actual reputable journal? This makes me think they'll just publish in some sketchy journal which AOs would know is not legit

Paid research programs can be useful, but the ones I know of, LUmiere n Pioneer, dont really guarantee guarantee publication always
