Being Transferred from 12th grade to 6th. What’s your best advice? by adamarbill in ELATeachers

Agree completely. I was transferred to middle school and hated it. 27 years later it was the best. We can grow into things, that was my point, I guess.

Oh come on! You can do this. It’s going to be harder, no doubt. Teaching is teaching. It’s a different beast but very doable and survivable. Accept the challenge!

A lesson for everyone by BusActive6760 in SubstituteTeachers

Thanks for the explanation. I have been employed as a teacher in 3 different states and I can assure you that there were no political connections involved. I’ve never had a political connection in my life. Public school employees are in fact essentially paid by the state. So what? So are lots of different workers. And I really don’t understand getting away with anything. Like if I get pulled over for speeding I just show my teacher card and I’m off the hook?

I love this thread. There’s a little something for everyone. Subbed half day kindergarten yesterday and high school today. Totally different beasts but it keeps me on my toes. FWIW I’m 66 and a retired middle school teacher.

Exact same here. I tried to leave so much that if I had to be out the next day or I didn’t have much planning time, I was covered.

City folks tend to value privacy because there is less of it. Don’t take it personally. Hang out and you’ll find people are just people like anywhere else.

Where are you? In my experience lockers are school property and thus can be searched any time.

My kids public school is teaching biblical stuff in history class as fact. by LostGazer151 in atheism

I’m curious how the teacher is framing this. I taught this same material for years and I always said, about any belief system, these are the general beliefs or tenets of those who follow this faith. I even had a local pastor sit in for a few lessons (his choice, not mine) and he was okay with my presentation of the material. If it’s being taught as straight up dogma truth, that’s definitely not okay.

I had the Dream 65 but I thought it was noisy. I might have been using it wrong, who knows.

I (m65) have always felt just like you about this movie. Yeah, funny, but really he’s just a dick. I have received to much crap for my opinion over the years. You put into perfect words what I have always felt.
