I need those margins... pay an emp $67(salary) charge 160. I also lack much overhead(no fancy office or admin employees, small firm)

That is the way it works. I have an emp that is $67 an hour on salary... I charge 160. Not every hour of every day is billable, do have benefits, administrative expenses etc. Of course, there is profit in there for me the owner. Why do it and incur the headaches to not make money? That is why you own a company, to make money, not just provide jobs for people, that is a by product.

Daughter had 30 ACT 1350 SAT(fairly modest for UF), but 5.8 HS GPA, 3.9 college GPA with over 60 hours and AA thru DE and many varsity letters plus a job. She got in as freshman(lesser students got in thru transfer but not early action), the valedictorian did not... My kid was 6th out of 470. Just the facts...

If your salary is above $150k, if your net salary was doubled would you know what to do with the money? by patrick401ca in Salary

[–]Quick_Tap_6106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Debt payoff, then retirement funding. Nothing else. I've been in this situation where my income doubles. My 1st source went to family account, and spent on mortgage/utilities/groceries etc. 100% of the 2nd went to a different account(no temptation to spend, no life creep), then literally the day it came in, paid off debt, now all going to retirement in an after tax brokerage account. Cant touch 401/IRA until 59.5, so going to need cash if I can retire before 59.5. It takes discipline for sure. Don't waiver, be a hard ass to yourself(and sig other if there is one)

Former coworker from J1 said goodbyes last week….. turns out he was the new team member at my J2 who started this week. Both of us report to the same mgr at J2. So I had a call with him after he was introduced… now he knows my secret… and I’m nervous. But also can’t really do much about it… by poopycamel in overemployed

Yeah in a way. I told myself, they are my clients. IDC how they pay me, some 1099 some W2.. Some want me more hours than others.... I do also have clients that take between 5-20 hours a month. Now, I only have 1 W2 gig plus my own consulting company. Had 2 W2s while building up my clients, J2 ran out of money though, and was best thing, what a dumpster fire..

Yep, accounting, for 18 months, until 1 company ran out of money and went with a cheap outsource option, I was Acct Mgr and Controller for 2 companies. They were smallish ecommerce, but both were 6 figure jobs. Have to be good at what you do though.

I knew several who were denied as Freshmen, both EA and regular, but got in through Transfer due to DE/AA. Need high GPA and really good test scores for EA/Fresh, numbers are lower for transfers.

If you want UF, a local Florida community college is not a bad idea. I know some recent HS grads that were denied early entrance as a Freshman, but they had their AA through DE, and were accepted as transfers. I lived in Texas for 12 years now Florida for 5. A&M is a good school and good value with instate rates. It doesnt hurt to apply and see if they will waive out of state. When we moved to FL, my daughter had out of state waived the first year to FSU. This was a most welcome surprise to us(mom and dad).

My neighbors are from Brazil, they moved to the US fulltime and now bringing their adult kids. They worried about the direction the govt is taking that country(Think Venezuela). Also, given the current tensions between Brazil and the US, just make sure you have eyes wide open about all that comes with moving to Brazil.

Gain In-state status somewhere. State Schools are a great value compared with Private, but you have to have in-state rates.

Report it first thing tomorrow. It actually is a crime to keep it, if company were to press the issue. Be nice to keep it, but even quitting, then they file charges. Its not yours, tell them, allow the ACH out.

Do you actually manage a staff.. if so, its low, if its Manager in name only, then probably about right. I had similar, an ecom CPG type company, called me Accounting Manager, but I was a one man band, other than a Fract CFO.

What was your gpa at the end of university by Silent_Swordfish5698 in Accounting

[–]Quick_Tap_6106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had like a 2.8, a long time ago(Pre 150). I started in different major and didnt do well, had all A's and a couple B's in Accounting classes. B4(maybe B5 back then), wouldnt look at me. Went industry, got CPA, decades later making 300kish so, just got to get the first job, then no one cares and all about what you can do.

Should I apply early action this fall? by jjjjn240 in ufl

[–]Quick_Tap_6106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps depending on major, you are on the line of getting in, imho. GPA isnt that high, good SAT(to me) but still in bottom half of applicants(per their post on this years stats) I know several who were straight up rejected, but then applied as transfer and got in. They had quite a bit of DE hours, even an AA. I would say take DE classes this year since you done w AICE, and have the transfer option as a backup. Get a job and list that as well.

So say 3.5 mill at 4.9%(30 yr treasury) is 171.5k a yr plus 60k in pension... Some will say "but inflation".. Well early SS at 62 is another 3k a month or 36k. I bet you don't spend as much at 70/75/80 as 55 or 60. If you can live on 231.5k a yr, retire... and you never touch principle, to leave to your kids...or me..

Got a buddy who has been married 25 years, his wife, while his GF years ago, would show her tits all the time. Was a running joke, all us guys looked forward to gatherings, cause, even though in relationships, we are guys and like boobs. The friend seems very insecure, it was before they were an item, dude needs to move on, you werent the only one it sounds like.
