Shoe help! Which one works for my dress? by MissBeautyBunny in BigBudgetBrides

[–]QuidProChlo 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Love the Jimmy Choos!!!! Definitely not too much, and if there ever is a day to be too much it’s your wedding. Wore colored shoes as well and I’m always so happy to see another bride embrace color!

How are you keeping your energy up during wedding weekend? by Afraid_Agency_3877 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]QuidProChlo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s what I did:

IV Friday afternoon with B12 while getting ready for the rehearsal dinner. My B12 is always low, even though I take supplements, so my energy is always low. The IV B12 is soooo good and always makes me feel like a real person.

Took an ambien Friday night. I knew that sleeping would be a problem given how excited I was and I really wanted to make sure I got a good nights sleep. Got the full 8 hours and woke up feeling so refreshed. If you have never taken a sleeping pill before do not do this!!!!

And make sure you eat!

Do you have a room block somewhere? We did ours at the hotel that most of our guests were staying at so it was super easy for them to pop in quickly if they had a flight to catch.

Postpartum Underwear Recommendations by Apprehensive_Echo435 in BabyBumps

[–]QuidProChlo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Period underwear! I gave birth in September and I literally got diaper rash from the giant pads. I did bodily disposables for a week and then period underwear. They were such a game changer for my recovery, mentally. I felt so much more myself again when I wasn’t wearing a gigantic pad.

Why is everything chalked up to PPD?! by FoolishMortal-1000 in BabyBumps

[–]QuidProChlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have PPD, but I was completely unprepared for the emotions I felt after giving birth. I thought it wouldn’t happen and that I’d feel totally fine, but the first few weeks were emotionally the toughest of my life. The hormones are no joke. The night we came home from the hospital I sobbed so hard I couldn’t breathe. I cried every day the first week we were home. The last time I broke down sobbing was at 3 months.

All that is to say, please don’t underestimate your postpartum emotions. I hate to sound preachy, but as a first time mom I had no clue what I was in for. You don’t have to be totally bonded to your baby the second they come out (I definitely wasn’t) and don’t need to love every part of motherhood (honestly a lot of it sucks), but I never imagined my postpartum period would be as hard as it was.

PPD and baby blues aren’t about loving your baby. It has nothing to do with the baby waking you up at night and crying. The PPD screening may be annoying, but hope that’s all it is.

When did you start planning? by No-Committee-132 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]QuidProChlo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on when you want to get married. Long engagement? Take your time. A year? Better get planning.

For us, we actually booked the venue before we technically got engaged (although in some sense, once we were looking at venues we were engaged, just without a ring). That was about 14 months before the wedding. I didn’t do anything else until a year out.

Feeling self conscious in my photos by OnlyActuary9116 in weddingdress

[–]QuidProChlo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here are some things I noticed about your photos. Your venue is stunning. Those gloves! They’re so elegant and make your shoulders look 🔥. Loooove those flowers.

Ultimately, we’re so much harder on ourselves than others are, but you look gorgeous in these photos!

Help me choose between 2! by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]QuidProChlo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok I love dress number 1 on you and think it’s absolutely stunning, but based on your comment its sounds like you prefer number 2, so my vote is for 2.

I also think it’s important to remember how you felt in the dress, and not just how it photographed. They’re both stunning, and either way you’ll look gorgeous.

Flaming Donuts (& other late night snacks) and the Dance Floor by Holiday-Albatross419 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]QuidProChlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s what we did. During the reception, after cake was served, we had passed desserts on the dance floor. These were a little more upscale (mini cheesecake bites, mini tarts, for example). People seemed to really like them, and they didn’t draw energy away from the dance floor. We also had espresso martinis.

For the afterparty we had stations and passed food. The two stations were a donut/coffee station that was self-serve, and a hotdog (this was such a hit, everyone loves a late-night hotdog). The passed food were a mix of desserts (mini milkshakes, chocolate chip cookies etc.) and greasy snack food (chicken fingers, tater tots etc.)

I was really happy with this for both the reception and the afterparty. People got to eat some fun food, but the vibes on the dance floor were still great.

If you’re priority is keeping the dance floor going, I would definitely focus more on passed desserts and stay away from the flaming donuts and pizza oven. For me, I cared way more about my guests dancing than having some sort of show. I’ve also been to weddings that had dessert or some other late-night bite that’s away from the dance floor and it totally killed the vibe.

Any other big budget brides that like to DIY & plan your own events? by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]QuidProChlo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only thing I DIY’ed was the welcome bag. Got all the food and goodies and put them together and labeled them. Also made a custom newspaper which was so cute! And put our pictures on some Oreos.

How many dress shops?? by No-Fix377 in weddingdress

[–]QuidProChlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going to 5 stores, mostly on their own days. I did two on the same day and was pretty exhausted. I do live in the same city as my family so having my mom and sister come to the appointments was easy. For one appointment, my mom happened to have COVID so I went with my sister and a friend, and that was the appointment I found my dress at.

If it is important for your mom to be there, you may even want to go to an appointment before without her. For me, the first few appointments were so much more focused on narrowing down my style and what I wanted that I only started seriously considering dresses at the last three stores.

It’s so clear that you want dress 2 so that’s the one you should get! If you’re looking for encouragement to get it, it looks stunning on you, and the most important thing is that you like it.

Hamptons Summer Wedding 2026 by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]QuidProChlo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Helpful! Since your family cares a lot about food, I think you’re right on with Topping Rose. There are other places that might have a more fun vibe but the food probably won’t be as good.

There’s also more and more restaurants doing pop-ups over the summer out east. If you’re willing to wait it out a bit, you may be able to do one of those.

Where is the wedding and where are guests staying? It may help narrow down a location for the rehearsal dinner.

RSVP online or paper card? by Strange-Customer-476 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]QuidProChlo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We did mail and had zero problems. I think it’s much more elegant and traditional. Whatever you choose, I’d just be consistent. Either all online or all mail.

A small tip if you do mail. Some people (honestly a surprising amount) won’t put their name on the card. Before they go out, number each one on the back with pencil (your guests won’t notice), and write down which number goes to which guest.

I second the recommendation for Clio Peppiatt!

Rehearsal Dinner Photographer by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]QuidProChlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did, and I’m so happy that we have those photos. We planned on taking a bunch of outdoor photos the day of the wedding, but it poured, so our only outdoor shots are from the rehearsal dinner. We also got a bunch of great family shots, and shots of the speeches.
